There are so many reasons why I consider Ginger Scraps my digital home, although I am on a site creative team at another site (and am honoured by that fact, and greatly appreciate it), so that is definitely a secondary home for me.
When I returned to digital scrapbooking earlier this year, having not scrapped since 2005 (suffered a concussion, had to stay off the computer for months, and then never got back into it) I started looking around at the various digital scrapbooking sites that were out there. Several things attracted me to Ginger Scraps: first of all, a number of designers whose worked I liked (including from way back when) were here. Then I discovered the challenges, and found out that I could actually earn a kit for completing enough (10) challenges! And if I didn't complete 10 in one month, they would carry over to the next month! I was very impressed with this reward system - it made the challenges not only fun to do, but rewarding as well.
I also was impressed by the free gifts in the Welcome Wagon, and the wonderful freebies many designers provide on their Facebook pages or in their newsletters.
Then the gallery, and the wonderful Sugar Cookies! I really liked that, when I looked through the gallery, and then when I started posting myself, all of the layouts in the main gallery had been commented upon! And they were substantial comments, not just "nice LO" or "gorgeous photo" or "beautiful" - the type of comments I've found at other sites. No, here the comments actually addressed one or more components of the layout. I loved that!
I also liked that the forums were busy, but not so busy that I couldn't keep up. The feeling of community really appealed to me as well. There was no "clique-y" feel. Oh, and the fact that a number of designers will comment on the challenge layouts posted for their challenges, or when you post to their gallery. It is awesome!
I was asked to join or applied to a couple of CTs for designers that are either exclusively here or have their "main" stores here, which I have greatly enjoyed! Then, in October, I was asked to join the Sugar Cookies. I am delighted to be a member of such a great team! My dream/goal is to be on the Ginger Scraps site creative team - hopefully I'll get there someday!
I'm probably forgetting something, but those are some of the reasons with Ginger Scraps is my digital scrapbooking home.
