What is the Difference...

between templates made in grid like fashion and pocket pages? I'm not sure I understand why one uses one over the other?

Actually, I don't think there is much of a difference. Pocket pages usually have an overlay that makes it look as if the photo is actually inside of a plastic sleeve. That's the only difference I can think of.

I'd say that pocket templates are made to fit the pocket cards / project life cards, the traditional 3x4 or 4x3 rectangle cards that you see everywhere. Some people buy and print those cards using them in their traditional layouts pocket albums. Others still use those cards, use them in pocket layouts--digi-style, which is where the templates come in to play. Whereas the other grid-like templates are just a take on blocking, being able to put a lot of photos, information, etc on one page without it being crowded and giving a sense of uniformity, yet taking on a sense of the pocket scrapping.

That's my theory, whether it's right or wrong, I'm not sure :D

I really don't think there is a right or wrong. I didn't think about the pocket journal cards coming into play so it's good that you mentioned them as well! :)

That makes sense!! So the pockets have a translucent layer that makes them look like they're in pockets?

That makes sense....and my daughter ADORES your siggy, but she says you love the wrong Doctor...it's 10 all the way! ;)

I have never been able to master those kinds of layouts. Looks like I might need to work on that!

Thank you. I am NOT a Whovian in the least. **shhhh** I can't stand the show, it drives me bonkers. Although I enjoy scrapping Doctor Who kits and my children's love for it! It's rather funny how they became obsessed--all that over a punishment for them fighting and now they are obsessed with all things Doctor Who. Their doctor, it's 10 all the way. I'll never forget hearing them screaming and crying. I thought they were hurt until I yelled, "did the doctor regenerate?" of course, the answer was "yes". I was relieved they weren't hurt, but was really sad about their favorite doctor regenerating. Thankfully he appears every once in a while on My Little Pony and they scream "he's there!"

Just in case you wanted to know where I got the elements to make my siggy, it came from Loving the Doctor by Clever Monkey Graphics.

I remember when she first made it and posted about it. I was like "what is that?" and there were so many people saying how great of a show it was. I mentioned it to my husband, who is the tv-watcher in the house. He said "ehh". And I forgot about this kit until much later when I stumbled across it and started laughing remembering all the hoopla around Tracey making this kit!

Here's a layout I made with it about one of my Whovians:

If you have Whovians in your family, I greatly recommend this kit. It's the best out there on the market! <3

Ohh!!! I am definitely buying this!!!

LOL! I love how this thread morphed from pocket pages to Doctor Who! hehe

Wendy, I like your explanation about the difference in templates. It seems like they were originally created to mimic Project Life (P52, P365) pages that people were doing IRL.

I had a really hard time getting used to them...I prefer the more creative ones like Ponytails has because I like clustering.

Now, on to a more interesting topic! Doctor Who!! I had never watched it...It really didn't seem interesting at all. But, a few Christmas breaks ago we were bored and my boys thought it would be fun. So, we started. We ended up binge watching all of it!! We were fascinated. It was so heartbreaking when Doctor #9 regenerated! But, we fell in love with Doctor #10 (we still haven't decided who we like better). So far we really don't like Doctor #11. We'll give him another season and hope for the best :)

We are a #10 family here. None of our hearts were captured by Doctor 9, and I am still mad at #11 for taking Doctor 10 when he "didn't want to go".

I love Doctor #9's quirkiness! I love Doctor #10's sweetness! Doctor #11...meh!
