What foods did you dislike as a kid...

Our extended family is growing as the nieces and nephews are getting married and having children. I got to see some of the family over the weekend and we were talking about foods we disliked greatly as children, but like now. And then that conversation turned to foods we disliked as children and STILL dislike as adults!

For me, I used to avoid anything with mustard as a kid, but I love mustard now (especially the stone-ground kind). I also refused to eat anything with fins or feathers as a kid, and I still refuse to eat anything with fins or feathers as an adult.

What foods did you used to avoid? Do you still avoid them or have you acquired a taste?

We had green beans a TON as a kid. For a while I avoided them but now I like them again.

I've never been a big seafood person. As a kid the most I had was fish sticks, maybe shrimp once. The seafood I've liked as an adult was fried catfish. Otherwise I still avoid it! I think if I'd had it more growing up, I'd just be used to it and not so hesitant.

As I child I did not like the amount of times we had stew ( casserole type meal in a saucepan ) but of course I did not realise then that my Dad's wages did not allow for fancy meals.

Not a fan of pork chops, then or now! I ate them though, when I was a kid and it's what my mom served.
I will not knowingly eat mayonnaise. What is it made of, vinegar and eggs, pretty much? I eat both of those, but I will NOT eat mayo. Don't like sour cream or cream cheese either. I don't eat cheesecake, peach cobbler/pie, or even cherry pie. I love apple pie. No thank you to chicken livers or any liver, thank you! Nor ox tails or any organ meat for that matter. NO head cheese. This list is getting long! I'll stop there! lol.

Oh - I did not have any desire to eat salad until I found out there was another choice of dressing than Thousand Island! I'll eat it with catalina, french, honey mustard, sun dried tomato, or sweet onion dressing, but NO Thousand Island or Ranch - blech!

I can't stand Hot Cross Buns as a child or as an adult. It makes things difficult at Easter especially with the rest of the family who LOVE them. I used to work next door to a bakery which did not help in any way!

Never liked Liver as a kid.. still can't eat that. I used to dislike mushroom as a kid and now it's my favorite veggie.

I hated eggs. And every once in a while I will get to where I cannot stand to smell or look at them. And other times they don't bother me. My son is the same way. It's so weird.
