What Elements Do You NEVER Use?

I was doing a template page and I realized every single time a guitar pick type element is used, I delete them. I don't think I have ever used one. It got me thinking about what I rarely or never use in a kit.

So for me, it's banners, flags, guitar picks, paper clips, thumbtacks.

What's yours?

I have yet to use a journal card, those premade 3x4 ones that come in kits. I want to try and challenge myself to. Personally I think they'd work better in pocket style layouts, but that's just me.

Oh yeah - I don't use the journal cards very often either, but if they have a quote I REEEAAAALLLY like, I will use them.

I love the idea of challenging oneself to use an element type not ordinarily chosen!

I would have to say journaling cards too. And I fumble with tags as well, though I can't say I've never used them. Journaling cards might be useful in place of making a mat from a paper, or in a spot where you might use a shape of paper. Many have lines on them which would be the 'pattern'. I think I might have a go at it.

I like most elements but I often have a hard time with frames because they don't often fit properly with what I am doing especially if they have thick borders. I don't find that I use alphas all that often either because I find them tedious to work with, but recently have been trying to stretch myself to play around with them a bit more.
I do like pocket/journaling cards because when I first started with digital scrapbooking it was through the Project Life app which is only pocket scrapping. I found quickly that was too restrictive for me, but I do find that cards are often are the perfect addition for my "freestyle" pages and sometimes I do still do pocket type layouts.

I don't use frames or banners often. I love alpha & journal cards but I use them sparingly as well.

Also tags with lines already on them. I have a hard time getting the writing on the lines correctly. When I do use tags with lines I also hate when there are more lines than I need or not enough lines.

I find that I don't use frames (especially thick border ones), photo corners, flat ribbon (I will sometimes, but very rarely) and journal cards that have lines (it drives me crazy if the words don't line up right or I don't have the right amount of writing to fill the space) and papers that don't match the theme (flower paper in a space kit, really?). I also will rarely use brads/flairs, file labels.
My favorites to use are themed elements, leaves/flowers (but gears or stars on a boy/masculine/space/car page), staples, paint/graffiti, word art and alphas.

Tape (can never get the shadow right) and feathers. Not sure why I’m not a fan of feathers... maybe I’m just too chicken to use them. hehe

Oooooh such a good question!

All y'all journal card haters can just send them to me, I use them All The Time :)

I have a hard time with the thick frames too. I've started just using them as layering pieces behind photos and that works out ok. It doesn't look realistic, but it doesn't bother me.

Anything where I have to separate the shadow layer to make it look right, I mostly avoid. Vellum, light colored Washi, elements with clear borders. I like them, but I'm usually too lazy to make the shadows work.

For me it would be trim and paper clips or clips of any kind. I am not a big fan of frames either but sometimes will try to make them work. I have branched out on trying newer things like doodles, paint splatters, journal cards (I love them but struggle with using them on regular pages, I prefer word strips or bits). I have learned to use washi tape over the years...in Photoshop you can shadow them and then use the burn and dodge tools to make them look a little more real....

I just use a journal card like I would an element and tuck elements on/under it.

I agree with Kristi, I hate the time it takes to work with alphas, I prefer word-art, and the frames don't usually work well with my photos. I love using JCs....

lace is a tough one for me, I can never get the shadows to look right
Journal cards can be tough for me. I always try to use elements that take me out of my comfort zone
Live & learn right!

Susan that LO is so cool!!

I have problems with clips too, a lot of fasteners actually. I think because I never paper scrapped I don't know where they should go to actually attach things. And yeah, the shadows too.

I usually only use washi tape, buttons, or staples as attachers. LOL

I don't use paper clips or tape. Don't use alpha's but would like to try. I really like frames! Will sometimes use them to 'frame the page', I may use a large frame on a page and then 'crop' it thinner and use for another picture. Use a frame around word art. Or use a 2 opening frame - 1 for the photo and 2nd for 'journaling' or word art.

Good question! I never use thick frames, paperclips, tape and journal cards (only when I make a pocket scrap). I hate buttons with no thread and flowers with buttons on them, that is so weird.
