Welcome to the GingerScraps Book Club!

Sugar Cookie : GingerScraps Praise Team {Lead}
Hi everyone! hope you all are doing well! I'm so exciting hosting the Book Club, and I hope that several of you will join to read along with me, or if you have read the novel before, discussing it on the thread that will be post. Join us for the challenge too, there will be a coupon prize to a lucky random winner every month.

THE BOOK:
Our first book will be a legal thriller with mystery elements: "The Widow" by John Grisham.

The author is very well-known for his novels in this genre. I haven't read this book yet, so we'll read it together.
To discuss this book CLICK HERE
This month is an exception, since we didn't have a vote poll, but in the following months, we'll be reading books that you all choose through a vote. So, please start suggesting books you'd like us to read together IN THIS THREAD, all genres are welcome, and you can add as many as you like!

THE CHALLENGE:
And since this is a scrapbooking community, there is also a challenge, open to everyone: Book Club layout challenge.
The challenge isn't exactly about the book itself, to allow anyone who wants to participate on it. And of course, there will be a prize :)
Each month there will be a drawing where one lucky winner will receive a $5 coupon valid for GingerBread Ladies collabs.

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope several of you will choose to join us.
Wonderful weekend everyone!

I have enjoyed about three different movies based on John Grisham books.
My Ken, enjoys reading his books and I do not think he has read this one.
It would cost me $17 for my kindle but I feel I would prefer to spend that money on a book I would really want to read.

I will wait and see what the next month's book will be.

It can also be read online; I found it on Lokepub, but since it's a new site dedicated to promoting reading, there isn't much information available, so I didn't dare log in or register, which, by the way, isn't necessary. The books are online, and you can read them chapter by chapter.
If anyone else wants to read it online *EDIT FROM GINGER* I deleted the link because I visited and there were some "adult" ads on that site. I would rather be safe than possible have link to a questionable site :)

@snickels Thank you for the suggestion. I live in a small country town and could ask at our library to see if they could get the book in which could take some time. But I am not interested in reading this book.

@Grace. Thank you for the link to be able to read the book but definitely not interested in reading a book on my computer.

@A-M Anne-Marie dear, I hope you will join us the next month, is there any book that you would like to read? I would love to hear recommendations of what kind of books you all would like to read.

I have not read one of John Grisham's novels in 10 years (I checked my reading log)! I love legal thrillers! I discovered Victor Methos a couple of years ago. I'm reading one now. I hope I don't get the facts mixed up. LOL

This is a brand new book. There's a 6-month hold for the ebook through my public library, which uses Cloud Library; the audio book is available in 5 months; and there are 41 people on the wait list for 8 hard copies. I'm getting it through Kindle, though, because I want to read it with y'all.

I don't remember having read any of his work before; it sounds intriguing! I tend to read better on my Kindle, but the library loan hold time is several months so I'll try to get a paper copy from my library sooner. It just may take me longer to finish it. :)

The problem with this one is that it's new. I won't be reading it this month. I'm 309th in the hold queue at the library for a physical copy, it doesn't look like they have an ebook.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! We will definitely take it all into consideration with next months book pick!
I actually picked this one, because it is new and getting great reviews, BUT I did not think about the wait list for new books 😩

For our December read, Grace will put up a poll and we will get votes etc.

For all who can join us, I hope you love the book! I'm excited to dive in!

I have had a change of plans and will be reading this book. Starting today, maybe.
My sweet husband paid for it as an early Christmas gift. He is a big fan of John Grisham.

The movies based on his books that I have really enjoyed seeing were:
The Client ( also read the book )
The Rainmaker
Runaway Jury
A Time to Kill

@Grace. do you plan to have weekly reading goals or discussions?
I’m trying to make sure I read at the best pace to keep up with everything :)
Yes dear, I've actually thought about starting a thread to discuss the book on Monday -tomorrow-. In it, all of us who are reading the book, which is addictive by the way, can comment on what we've read, what we think of the plot and the handling of the characters, etc.. I'm really interested in hear the thoughts of all who are reading the book.

I am looking forward to this! I used to belong to a book club years ago and I enjoyed reading selections that I probably wouldn't have found on my own. Now that I am very much tied to the house, going out to a book club is out of the question but this thread looks like it might be a good option for me.

@Grace. Is it in this thread we suggest books for future months? or are you starting a new thread for that which might be better to keep it all together.

I used to love John Grisham but haven't read any of his books lately. So I bought an ebook and will try to keep up! (I'm not liking Simon so far!)

Also I thought it would be better to keep them all in one thread, you can add them here :) thank you so much in advance

I love John Grisham! He was a Southern Mississippi Lawyer before he became famous for his books! I haven't read this one, so I will be happy to join in! Thank you, Grace!

Welcome, so glad you join us!

Ordered and eagerly awaited. I used to read on my kindle. But decided to back to 'real' books and I enjoy reading so much more this way. Thank you for running this book club @Grace.
