WARNING: Photobucket Issues

Hi scrappers :)

Have you noticed a ton of recent issues with photobucket? (whats' new right?)
This morning I noticed many images not showing up, and the image telling me to go to photo bucket to resolve the issue - here is a screen shot example of a sign I saw in the forum-

Well I currently pay a yearly fee (I think $25.00) for additional storage and a few other abilities but NOW they are saying I have to pay an additional $400 per year to have 3rd party hosting. Mind you I JUST woke up so I probably should have thought it through before paying... but although very annoyed I went ahead and paid the $400, to my dismay this didn't seem to even clear up the issue. It looks like any of you will now get this image error unless you go pay for an upgraded account.

I wanted to warn you all, if you are having images issues it is probably time to find a new image hosting company. Photobucket has been on the decline for a long time but this is just ridicules!!

I really don't even need it, as we host 95% of the images here at GS on our server. I do still have the account and used it once in a while, but it looks like all the error images I am now seeing are each of your own private accounts, not links from the GS Photobucket account.

Anyways... my long rambling post (half asleep), if you use photo bucket its probably time to find anther option. There is NO WAY $400 a year is worth it! You should get a small personally hosted account for MUCH less than that!

A great option is to create an album on Facebook and just link from there. If you are a CT member, there is the secret CT group where you can create an album and then link so previews can be posted for Fresh Baked, Buffet, etc ahead of release dates. If you are NOT a CT member, this same idea will work fine. You can even create an entire closed group for yourself just to host your own images. A MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper option to Photobucket. I got fed up a few years ago with skanky ads showing up when I logged in. NO thank you ****. I can do without. This is going to be the nail in the Photobucket coffin. There are WAY too many cheaper/free options (Google Photos, etc).
 
Now that I am fully awake and reading up on it ... this was REALLY a bad move for PB! People are quite upset! You should see all the facebook and twitter comments!
 
I haven't used Photobucket in ages. It got so glitchy and the ads were annoying. Definitely find another source!
 
I am using Photobucket...recently (since I started CT work) I purchased an account (only $14pa) to get rid of the ads. This still seems to be working for me but I will be keeping a close eye out.
 
try Imgur... I changed over as PB was turning into a nightmare for me.. Imagur, for the moment, is free for me and they are quick, links work perfectly... so hope they don't turn into another PB.
 
I just registered with Imgur...I don't see anywhere to make the account private, am I missing something?

I just notice tonight that my siggy is like that of what Ginger has posted. I opened pb to copy the link and went ahead to edit my siggy but nothing happened. Good thing I also uploaded this in my gallery so I'm still good. But for future LO uploads... I'll try flickr and if it doesn't work, maybe imgur might. Haven't used it before but might give it a try.
