A place to waffle on about the little things in life :) Let's get to know each other a little better. What is going on in your life right now. I am recovering from a broken ankle and injured shoulder, on top of which I have a cold, cough, fever, aches and crankiness.

I am heading off to England (from Southern California) in a few weeks to visit cousins and my son, DIL and grandson.

My other grandson is staying with me for a little bit. He is 21. Two grandchildren, one is 21 and one is 18 months. Lot of space between them.

Lynnette I an so sympathise with your injuries, I am just getting back to scrapping and completing my Italy album after fracturing my collar bone. I remember my dear Dad telling us his broken collar bone was the most painful injury he ever had!
You must be so excited for your trip to England!

I am, Meryl. It seems like forever since I have seen John. I am fortunate that Hannah FaceTimes me at least once a week with him so I get to spend quality time. She is a peach. Any more travels planned for you?

Well, my oldest son just got engaged today, so I will be experiencing a wedding in the near future! Other than that, I am doing all right, even with the cold/allergies infecting me. Pretty good day so far.

I'm ok, except for some not so good news [today] from a recent sinus CT scan. There are several procedures I will need to endure first. I stopped by my primary care Dr. just to get a RX renewal and make a blood test appt. Turned out he wasn't busy...had to see him too.
We are taking a cruise in March. I'm looking forward to it. Chances are the above mentioned procedures might wait until we return.

I finished a crochet sweater for myself! I will be starting a graphghan next.

Nothing like a wedding to get you scrapping :) That was how I started about 17 years back with the wedding of our eldest daughter, and have never stopped since :)

Sorry about the medical problems, but so exciting about he cruise! We recently did one on the Mediterranean - loved every minute! Where are you headed?
Your graphgran got me Googling! Interesting project!

Being a gran to 6 wonderful, far away grandkids (3 in Nottingham, England, 3 in Dublin, Ireland) I too so appreciate technology to keep in touch! How did they manage back in the day?? No major travel plans right now Lynnette, I need time to catch up on pages from last trips! We are going away, down the coast, in our caravan for 3 nights over the weekend though.

So sorry to hear you got some bad news Michelle. Hope you can enjoy that cruise before you have to endure any procedures!!

I am currently getting ready to host my sister's baby shower on Sunday. I've been super busy making signs and a little traditions book for all the guests to add their favorite family traditions to as a nice keepsake for my sister. Between that and the Olympics I've gotten in very little scrapping and designing. Today is catch up day!

What a very sweet idea a traditions book sounds - love it :)

The shower sounds fun Juli. If she doesn't scrap, this is a great time to get her started.

Both g'kiddo's LOVE Peppa Pig and have all the characters to go with. They visited Peppa Pig World when in the UK last summer. The little one requested a Peppa blanket after she saw I was working on a different blanket. I was surprised from a 2 yr. old.
However, I had already purchased the pattern and the yarn without them knowing it. I'm probably nuts to be attempting this.

That is exciting news! Lots to photograph and scrap with wedding preparations, shower preparations, honeymoon after :) There are always so many wonderful pictures from weddings - starting with the engagement! Did he get pictures for you? Tell us more, do you know your new DIL to be?

My daughter works as support for the Pepa Pig tours. She does either catering or merchandise. I forget which, she does one or the other for all kinds of tours. She is in Cancun now. For a while she was a dancer for Nickelodeon on the Yo Gabba Gabba tours. She was on TV a lot when they toured. She was a dancer and face character for Disney also. Lots of Disney pictures for me to scrap. I couldn't see your pictures though :(

I woke to such exiting news this morning - my layout, Ancona, was selected as a Gallery Standout! I feel so honoured! Thank you DivaMom96 :)

Congratulations, Meryl. Your stuff is always so good, I am not surprised it was chosen.

Nothing like having a designer / scrapper working on a baby shower (or any party, for that matter!) I helped with a shower recently and it is so much fun coming up with the designs and ideas. I'll bet you have done some amazing things. I hope you can share pictures.

Yes, definitely!! Great time to get her started. On another subject, I really do hope you get the sinus issues sorted soon. They can be so painful.

I'm still out sick from work, this dang cold, cough, fever, aches and pains. I can hear myself rattle as I breathe. Very uncomfortable.

On the bright side, daughter Karen called from Cancun to say she loved me. She is working there on a tour.

How cool is that! My DD danced also. Age 3-22. Many years were competitive. She did a summer tour with Star Power one year, and they finished up at Disney. We have the annual passes.
I need to get their photos from Peppa World and scrap them. Only have a few.

I added a link above. And here too.

He did send me a couple of pictures of them at the place he took her to give her the ring. I know his fiancee a little- she came up to stay with us at Christmas. She's a great girl and I'm totally excited for them. They're not here right now but will be getting married here in May. Yes, that's very fast!

How exciting for you all Ane! It's good that y'all have met and get along. So happy he sent some photos.

We attended dozens of StarPower Competitions. Karen was Jr. Miss Dance one year and Miss Dance the next, I think. She had a trio who won first overall multiple times. We definitely need to become good friends :)

Ane, I think it is lovely! I am so glad you got to meet her and are happy about the engagement. Looking forward to seeing some scrapped pictures.

She texts every day, the phone calls are a bonus!

I am at work today. Not really feeling up to it, but not ready to give take any more unpaid days. I have already used all my sick time and the company is pretty generous. They kindly let me use my sick days this year to help with being out last year when I injured my shoulder. This is a tough year physically.

Let me see. My sister passed away two days before Christmas. Dealing with everything to do with that has fallen to me. My elderly mom in not great mind or body moved in with me temporarily until a bed is found in extended care. My autistic son is really struggling with school, the family disruption, my daughters health is all over the place. I'm having to get 30 years of my moms stuff downsized.

Oh my gosh, Sherri. What a bunch of stuff to deal with!! We had to downsize before we moved to our place in a retirement community almost six years ago. We had about 30 years of stuff to downsize. It is a huge and overwhelming job. You have much hugs and sympathy here! Especially since I did not have the same other traumas you are dealing with. If you lived closer I would come over to help (I am not kidding, I am good at downsizing now!) But if you ever need a facetime/skype friend while you are in the process, I will be there for you!

Hard about your sister. Whether you are close or not, it is still traumatic. If you are close, it is the shared memories, if you were not close, it is regret that you were not closer. My mother lost her sister last October. They have always had issues (not major fights about anything, but they were never close). Loss is such a hard thing to push through, especially when it happens so close to the holidays. It is pretty fresh for you still.

Dealing with a parent with the issues you mentioned is hard under the best of circumstances. Having it disrupt your family makes it even harder.

And kids! Oh my gosh - kid issues are the worst to drag you down. You have so much sympathy here, I don't know what to do with it.

BIG HUG

thank you so much. It was literally like the sky fell all at once.

OMG Sherri, I have been a fan of your layouts and and journaling for a long time, I've always admired your courage in sharing your personal experiences so intimately in your layouts. Where some would have given up or carried around a half empty cup, you continue on with bravery and positivity. I have to confess that your avatar picture just never matched my mental picture of the strong woman I imagined you to be. I wanted to tell you the other day when you changed that the photo matched what I saw in my head, a strong woman, facing the world head on. I see you've changed the photo again, but this one works for me as well :) You are an inspiration and you've obviously been a phenomenal example to your children. You are my hero.

I can honestly say I understand. I lost a son 22 years ago and another one a year and 3 months ago. There was so much other stuff going on at the time, too. It feels like you are running through sludge. Big HUG.

Oh Sherrie, the sky and many other things appear at not good intervals.
Prayers you make it through all on your plate.
deep breath. A day at a time.

We lost a son, June 1990. All 3 kids share the same date, but for different reasons...

You made me cry. I'm not sure I've ever been any ones hero other than my daughters. Thank you so the very kind words. It's nice to know that you have liked my shared experiences. I find comfort in sharing.

The avatoar of me in the red shirt, I used briefly, was an out take of family photos but I love it, it captures who I see myself as. It'll be back once survivor is over.
