Titles and Tribulations

I suck at titles for layouts. I can journal all day long, but for some reason titles elude me. I never really worry about it until I'm uploading a LO to the gallery and I have to come up with something. I'm sure I have 50 LO's in my gallery called "kitty". (Which how silly is it that we call our cat Kitty? Maybe I suck at naming things in general, LOL) I'm making an effort to title my pages more, but it still doesn't come naturally.

Am I the only one who has trouble with titles?

You are not alone! I think that titling a layout is my lest favorite part of scrapping. I find I use the same title for whatever theme I am scrapping. I also use word art within a kit to title my page and look to pinterest. There is good ideas there!

Oddly enough, I like titles and title almost all of my layouts (although, sometimes I just use word art).
I particularly like to use play on words or puns if I can. That being said, I have plenty of layouts that are just basic - "Zoo Day" "Cars Land" "Sportsman's Expo" etc.

Great question... I ALWAYS have a title for my LOs, they are naked without one:D
Often I have the photo, the title and the story planned before I start work on the page. My scrapping habits have changed since I came here after my previous home closed down 2 years ago during which time I had decided this wonderful hobby was over for me (so glad to have it revived in my lovely new home:)). Not so many stories being told now as the gkids grow up, I am happy to just be playing around in photoshop, being part of a community, and creating something even if the photo I am using has no particular story. I loved alphas and big titles...not doing that so much now but every page has a title on it.

I usually have my journaling and photos planned out before I start too. Titles don't factor in for some reason.

What was you old scrappy home?

I love the idea of using plays on words. I need to try to do that more often. I do like using WA too.

Digital Scrapbook Place was my happy place for lots of years. Eventually it was taken over by My Memories, I tried to make that site home but it did not work so I dropped out and have now resurrected myself here and loving it:multistars:

Meagan mentioned using puns as titles, I used to have a fetish for alliteration...tennis twosome, gorgeous grands, teen talk, fotobook fun (I took a bit of spelling licence with that one:)) are some I have used here..seems like I still have a fetish *rolling eyes*

....of course I am going over to Meagans gallery to find her punny titles now:D

....and speaking of play on words and alliteration, Jennifer, I love the title of this thread:)

Apparently I have an alliteration fetish too hehe

How about let's share some LO's we've made with fun or interesting titles? Maybe that will inspire me. I've made a few pages with titles that still make me smile. I think I can crank out a good title once every six months or so....

I have a hard time with titles, too, Jen. I do a lot of LOs without a title just because I can't think of something that I like the sound of. Or, I use a word art piece for the title.
You are a master of journaling! I want to be you when I grow up!

aww Tammy you're so sweet! I have no mouth filter and I think that comes out in my pages, LOL.

Sometimes titles come easily for me, but when I'm scrapping my cats (and I do a lot of layouts of them, especially as Merlin is fighting lymphoma), I've run out of ideas. So I try to use quotes, word art, or something else to inspire my cat layout titles!

My titles aren't nearly as creative as yours are, Jennifer. As you can see, mine are mostly alliterations and play on words. Yours are great and very entertaining!!

I LOVE titles. I journal on most every LO...now some pages, I turn off the journal if posting.

I love titles but not so good about coming up with them. Sometimes I just google some title ideas. There are a dozen places that pop up if you Google "Scrapbook title ideas." Sometimes I just state the obvious and sometimes I use word art (see examples below).

I started looking thru my gallery and realized that I REALLY love titling. I use a lot of alliteration, too. Plus, puns, plays on words and anything else I can come up with. I really like something funny for sure.

Making up words

Wait - 1 more

Also - Buggy Birthday, Color Me Happy (for Easter Egg coloring), Simply Mad for Tea, Feel the Boom (4th of July), Cool Cat (for sitting in the shade).
I think I do it more for my Disney LOs. I take so many photos in Disneyland, it forces me to use new and interesting titles since there is only so many times you can say the same thing

Meagan, you are the Master of the Universe of Titles! I always love seeing your titles!

I am guilty of one word titles and using fonts. Mostly scripts...I love a small script title on an artsy layout.

You guys have some amazing titles!!!

I try to take the title from the journaling mostly, but if it eludes me, I usually just use one simple word.

Song titles or lyrics are another great way to think of titles.

Haha - I don't know about that, but thank you.
I do love a great title and am even sometimes sad when a kit doesn't come with a great alpha for me to use.

my titles are usually short..or puns..i may not title every lo but i never forget to add the date(at this stage of my life i need any reminder that can jog this old brain to remember)

I'm not good at titles either! :p I'll have to look at my LOs for any that have fun or interesting titles!

Have you tried entering a key word into a search at an online bookseller's? The "Cozies" category works well ... For "Cat", for example, you get such wonderful results as "The Great Catsby", "Meouw Or Never", "Paw-sitively Cheerful" - I bet Kitty would be delighted :-)
