Thread: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - DECEMBER Let's get to know each other more!

Well Ladies, Christmas is almost here, I don't want to have to go shopping again til it's over... it's a mad house everywhere you shop.... It took me almost an hour to get checked out yesterday.... and I wasn't Christmas shopping, I was just getting grocery... LOL This girl is staying home til after Christmas... The house is so warm and toasty, and the decorations look great, and have my scentsy candles burning so it smells like Christmas...and love watching Christmas movies, and listening to Christmas music... Just having the kids and grandchildren here for Christmas so it will be a quiet one, we will have a big dinner, love all those special foods we only make for the Thanksgiving and Christmas.... I wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and may your 2019 be full of good health, and happiness...

My mother had a stroke this weekend. She lives with us, but I think it is time to look at nursing homes. I have been so excited this season and now I feel as though I'm swimming in darkness :( I want Christmas to be a happy event. We aren't making any decisions until after Christmas, but in the meantime Mom is a 24/7 job and I still have tons to do before the kids get here. I have convinced my brother to come so that's good. I don't mind helping my mom at all. I feel it's my privilege, but right now I feel so very overwhelmed. For those of you that pray, could you say a little prayer for me please? I don't want to put my mom in a nursing home, but I know I can't give her the care she needs now. Okay, I'm done rambling. sorry ladies...

I absolutely will pray. We are in a similar situation in that my MIL is going down the alzhemer's road, and she will need to go to a home soon. We don't want her to, but it's killing my FIL to keep caring for her. We do what we can (and what help he will take) and it's so heartbreaking to see.

Merry Christmas to you as well!!! I am bingeing on Christmas movies! LOL

My mom has Dementia, so we already deal with that. We're looking at trying to keep her at home. Not sure if it will work, but we're giving it a shot. I'm just not ready to put her in a home, no matter how hard it is to take care of her. Christmas is going to be special this year. I'm going to soak up every second with her that I can. Thanks for the prayers ladies! Merry Christmas!

Oh Lynn, I hope she will be okay soon. I will keep her in my prayers...

I live south of the equator in sunny South East Queensland
Just spent the day tiding outside & have burnt the back of my neck but the pool is ready to go for Christmas day

We have some funny aussie christmas carols, one of the kids favourites is aussie jingle bells

Late night shopping has become a family tradition & I love the midnight shop as everyone goes home by 9pm
I still have presents to wrap & food to cook & oh so much cleaning. Best get back to it before hubby gets back with dinner

Sam, you must live south of the equator! How hot is it? I can't imagine living somewhere where it is hot at Christmas. In Hawaii, though, they have Christmas carols like "Here comes Santa in his red canoe!"

You sounds as though you are very efficient at getting last minute stuff done for Christmas. I am working hard getting all my last minute stuff done too!

We don't want to put her in a home either, however, she's getting increasingly angry and combative, and FIL is really having a hard time with her. He's trying as long as he can.

I don't even know what to say that would help, Lynn. I DEFINITELY am a praying person, so I will truly include her in my prayers. Susan, it sounds as though you are dealing with a lot, too. Your poor FIL. My best friend had to put her mother in a home due to Alzheimers/Dementia. She found a small care home, sort of a house where several people who need a lot of care live. She is very content there and they go to visit often. It is more like a home environment than a care facility, so it works well.

BEST GIFT FOR ME! I had a lovely Christmas. My youngest son and his wife gave us the best package. We opened the package and there was another wrapped package inside. Then another wrapped package, then another wrapped package. Finally, in the last package is the cutest Christmas ornament of a young couple. My husband says how nice it is and hands it to me. My DIL says "READ IT!" and it says "Baby Siler, coming 2019!" I SCREECHED "WHAT! WHAT!" If we had gone outside, I think crowds would have gathered to see what the screeching was. So - Now I have Mark, who is 22, John who is 2, Baby due in April and Baby due in June. I am so happy I could dance.

BEST GIFT FOR DAUGHTER! My son, Steven (28), made a gaming system for my daughter (31) that contained all the old games they played as children. He made it out of old parts and legit downloads (Treasure), it took a lot of time and his talents as a computer person. SO Time, Talent and Treasure - fit with our Christmas Theme really well!! She said it was seriously the best gift she had ever got in her life. After the hustle and bustle of Christmas dinner was over, they settled down and played it for a while. It was so great!

DINNER: Christmas dinner went really smoothly. I popped the ham in our electric roaster before we started opening gifts (around noon), then when we were done, I put the veggies in the instant pot, then the potatoes and Boom! It was all done. It was the easiest meal I have ever cooked. Son Steven did the crescent rolls in the oven.

I got to bed pretty late and I'm at work today, but still riding on a high from the best baby reveal ever!

Thank you, Ladies, for all your prayers! Christmas was wonderful! My brother and his wife got to come, which I had not expected. Mom wasn't sure who they were, but figured it out after we told her. She did really well. She really enjoyed the kids! They had so much fun with her. She's a baby magnet!

We had three of our grandchildren here, two of which were celebrating their first Christmas. It was so wonderful! The house was full and there was lots of laughter and love.

Lynnie, How exciting for you! I'm so glad your day was a great one and congratulations on your baby news!

Congrats Lynnie... Grand babies are awesome, I'd have a dozen more if I could, but looks like only 6 for me... And I love the way they revealed it....
It's warming up a little here, but they say rain is coming, we have had so much rain this year, hope 2019 is a little dryer... Christmas was quiet here daughter-in-law worked so we done Christmas on Christmas Eve.... Grandchildren are playing video games, and the dogs have been playing through out the house, they are happy they got some time outside... LOL Well better try and get some scrapping done, you all have a great day!

I am pretty excited! I have one grandson who is 22 and we did not even meet him (or know about him) until he was 7 months old, so we missed the anticipation and the tiny months. We struggle with him, he is on the spectrum and lacks some social skills. He is very loving and I am glad he can be with me for Christmas. He lives a seven hour drive away. He will be here for two weeks.

The other one is 2 and lives in England. Now I have another on the way there, a little brother and sister for John! And one on the way here. I am so thrilled. I will be going to England in April to visit John and the new baby (and his parents, I almost forgot about them, haha), then back here to anticipate the birth of the next one. FINALLY I am catching up to my friends from High School.

Crazy busy weekend spent organizing a million pictures that my son had sent me. I think they had repeatedly downloaded all the pictures from his iPad, so there are five or six copies of some pictures. I got a good duplicate finder and photo organizer, so I am hoping to get them all organized by the time I go to visit them in April. To put it in perspective. There are over 40,000 pictures, of which over 2/3 appear to be duplicates. It is total insanity.

Plus, when I get there, he will have another year's worth of pictures to sort through.

I have to laugh though, when they were dating and up through when the baby was born there are hundreds of beautiful artistic photos of themselves and scenery and friends. Since John was born two years ago, most of the pictures are John and they will take forty or fifty of him on the same day in the same outfit. James is SO my son!! I really need to scrap some of these - John is gorgeous. I have not really been through them before because they were so disorganized.
