Thanksgiving

What do you do for Thanksgiving?
This year I think I will do a "Thanksgiving" breakfast with my kiddos because we are going to my SIL for dinner. I'll probably cook my sweet potato crunch. It's sooooo good!!!!

First year we are not doing Thanksgiving in forever! My son bought a house this year, so they are hosting Thanksgiving :) I am very excited.

I think it will be just the 3 of us this year, and that's OK. We'll have dinner once everything is done, LOL. I make the pies and cranberry sauce then assist hubby with whatever he needs (he is the cook of the family).

All the kids and mom are coming here to dinner. Not sure other than cooking, eating and cleaning up will be done. I need some fun games to adults to play that aren't too involved and that don't require too much prep. There are 10 of us total. We do headbands on the phone app but I need something else that is group games like that.

That sounds so fun!!! What are headbands on the phone app? I think I might do up a batch of Christmas cookies and have them help me decorate. We have our Christmas bank meeting a few days after.

Last year it was just me and my hubby. The boys went to their fiance's side. It was fine though... We just laid around and watched movies :)

Tanya - Yes I am cooking. Everyone brings a side and desert but for the most part I do it all. When we were younger and lived back East I couldn't wait for my family to grow up so that Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas dinners weren't just typical Sunday dinner. So now with most of my kids married we have a house full and it is crazy and I enjoy it.

Headbands is a game that you can buy in the store but there is a phone app version that we do. You put the phone up to your forehead so everyone else can see the word and they need to give you clues until you guess the word. See how many words you can guess in the allotted time frame. I'm super bad at it but the kids love it and I love laughing at them.

We do another little dinner between Thanksgiving and Christmas and we decorate cookies and play games. It has become kinda a tradition of 5 years. I don't like my married kids to have to choose if they want to go to the in-laws or not on the holiday so if they do then I still get them for this time.

I'm hosting this year for my sons and their girlfriends. I expect there to be eight of us. I'm really looking forward to it. I have a full, traditional Thanksgiving menu planned. For the first time, I've ordered a fresh turkey and am obnoxiously excited about it.

My oldest son and I started a new tradition last year of Thanksgiving night shopping. I participate in a Christmas Home Tour at work, so I use that opportunity to get great discounts on new Christmas decor to use for the home I'm styling.

And then . . . leftovers for days!

Lori - How was the fresh turkey? Was it worth the extra money? I usually do a frozen Norbest or Butterball. This year I did a brine and it was a very good turkey. Wondering if fresh would be just that much better.
