Tell Me Something Good!

It's been a while since I've posted in here (it's been kind of a busy summer) so bring me up to date. Tell me something good that you did or that happened to you this summer.

For me - My oldest went away to college and she's successfully living on her own and improving her life skills. I'm so proud of her! Also, it's reduce the amount of fighting in our house down to none so it's nice and peaceful here which is so nice (but sometimes it's too quiet).

We've had a great summer thus far, total STAYcation! We've had a few visitors stay with us for a few weeks (spread throughout the summer) and we've taken them to various places around the area. SF is full of popular as well as low key but amazing places to visit. If anyone is ever in the area, we would love to be your tourguide!

And from personal experience, I can vouch for what awesome tour guides y'all are. ♥

Thus far it's a 'stay-cation' for us but looking toward getting away for a few days in Aug, Sept, and Oct. We've done many one-day road trips in the area and enjoyed just relaxing.

The best part of my summer didn't even happen to me. It happened to my oldest son. He lost his job at Walmart because he stood up for himself and his fellow cart pushers when they were being mistreated. So he was fired back in February. Because he has no real skill it has been hard to find a job.
Well, the week before Father's Day he got a job working for Amazon and he is loving it. Still living at home but he's working towards moving out.

Well it's winter here and cold for us, Jess is at school and we are at work so nothing too exciting for us!!! lol!
Having said that we had a weekend vacation in Brisbane to watch the State of Origin Rugby.... it was awesome and ticked off our bucket list :)

Boring Summer for the most part. work and back home. I did take a staycation and came back to DIGI after ten years. That has been exciting!

Winter here too. Enjoying the simple things...hot chocolate by the fire whilst reading a good book, warm cosy bed to sleep in, long evenings watching favourite TV series...I love winter:)

I am applying for my Master's in Special Education and needed to go back and take an additional undergrad math class in order to even apply for the program (you had to have a B or better in 2 college math classes and I got a C in Statistics so it didn't count). So I have spent all summer learning some serious math that I will never need. It has been so challenging but I also feel really proud of myself. On Thursday I took my 3 hour final and I have spent the whole weekend recovering. Now my class is over and I am finally free to get back to my regular routine!

So many great things! I went to Hong Kong with my daughter and mom in May. Our family went to Belize in June. Celebrated two birthdays in June, got a job teaching summer school. Last week I landed a dream job of co-teaching second grade for this fall. It has been insanely busy this summer but looking forward to something fun to do this!

I wrote the Canadian Dietetics Registration Exam (the last hurdle I had to complete in order to be licensed as a registered dietitian) back in May, then in June, when I was at the Dietitians of Canada conference (where I presented a poster on my master's degree research), I found out I passed the exam! Even made a layout about it:

This summer has been pretty much quiet for me - I did turn 50, which others found pretty exciting - LOL, and we do go to our place on the lake this Saturday for a week, which will be pure heaven.

I have been more excited for my daughter Cheyanne though - at 16 (17 in a few weeks) she's been working and has her license and a car and has been pretty much responsible for herself this summer and I couldn't be prouder of how she's handling herself and the demands in her life; heading into her senior year in about 5 weeks and we're both excited about the year to come! She knows what she wants to study in college and is quite determined to make it (8 years) and she has a wonderful boyfriend who treats her so well and is totally supportive of her dreams. I also can't wait to see her senior photos after she has her session in 3 weeks! It's definitely the little things for me hehe
