Tell me something GOOD!

2016 has been a rough year for a lot of people I know. But in everything that is bad, there is a always a little bit of good to focus on. So tell me...what is something good that is going on in your life right now?

For me - my oldest is starting her last semester of high school. In 5 short months she will be graduating and then in June leaving for college. AND we are hosting a New Years Eve party at our house tomorrow night. Expected it to be a big affair, but turns out we're only having a few guest. However, they are our closest friends and the best people to ring in the new year with.

So what about the rest of you?

This is my second year back in Nashville, second year of a brand new Elementary program at our school which I am running. (Crazy right?!) And I will be going back for my third level (and final) of Montessori training next fall... I am already Primary age and Lower Elem trained but am going back for Upper Elementary so my class can eventually be K-4... Again, all sorts of crazy going on in my life!

I've also received some new toys for my camera that I am excited to be learning how to use. This is the time of year I love to be outside shooting the snow and the animals who love the cold weather..

My Christmas gift to my friend and my daughter in law was 2017 in a scrapbook. I'm going to not just collect and actually use! I finished a 48 page wedding scrapbook in a week so my best friend's daughter could give it to her mom for Christmas. I was very proud of it and she was so excited.

Congrats to you for your ongoing Montessori education. My college roommate became a Montessori teacher and she loves the change from the regular classroom. Sounds like you’ve accomplished quite a bit in a short time!

Wow – finishing a whole wedding album that quickly is quite the undertaking! I hope you will share your 2017 album as you complete it. Sounds like a fun project.

I took my kids out playing Pokemon Go today and they filled in many spots in their Pokedex. It was great to spend the day doing fun stuff with them.

Sherri - We call those kind of days Family Fun days at our house. They are my favorite kind of days when we can get outside and do something fun together. Sounds like something good for sure! Thanks for sharing!

Hubby and I took in a kitten a couple months ago that is disabled. She has a neurological disorder that prevents her from walking well. Actually she really doesn't walk. The more I read about her condition, the more negative things I heard. That she won't be able to use a litter pan. That she won't be able to even drink water on her own. That she might have seizures. Well so far, she uses a litter pan, which I was so pleased about. And last week, we finally saw her drink water on her own. Yay! We will probably make her a wheelchair soon too. So the good thing is that Charlotte is being much more independent than we thought she could be and I hope she continues to improve.

Yes 2016 was a rough year but it also had a lot of good. I'm looking forward to 2017, my hubby and I are expecting our 12th grandchild in May, we found out the Friday before Christmas it will be a little boy. :) Exciting for sure, including the soon to be baby, we only have 2 that live close to us. The others are off in other states. I also am waiting to hear if two of my children will be getting married during 2017 :)

My son made first chair in Sr Band this year. He's only in grade 10. IT's a huge accomplishment and very rare. He also made the mid term honour roll for the first time ever!! He has blossomed and we are thrilled! (He has high functioning Asperger's). The biggest milestone for him is that socially, he has made some good friends and feels like he belongs now. :) The biggest smile of my year was when I heard him laughing in his room and went to see why. (he doesn't show emotion often) and found him playing a game with four other kids via Skype. It was a moment to remember for me. :)

We did renos on our house. WE moved here in Dec of 13 and this year we put in new windows, new woodstove insert, new roof, and we just put a new garage door on just before Christmas. All paid cash (no credit) and it's really improved the look of the house. :)

Health wise, we are getting there. We had a rough 2016 with health issues, so hoping this year will be much better.

Danica, I saw a rescue site that made little "walkers" for kittens that couldn't stand or walk. So it helped them by using their front paws to move them along. They were so stinking cute. I wonder if they have the same disorder as your kitty. God bless you for saving them! You are awesome!

Something good for me is that I got my 2017 planner all set up and I am excited for 2017 to start! It is going to be an amazing year!

I agree, 2016 was a bit rough, mainly December! My good news is I will be finished with my associates degree this summer.

While 2015 and 2016 were pretty bad years for me, I am really hoping that 2017 will bring me some peace and hope. The good news is that my second son finished his first quarter of college right before Christmas and he did amazing! 3.8 GPA! Such a huge change after dealing with my 1st son and him dropping out of college. So that is something to be really excited about.

Danica - It's good news that Charlotte (who is so cute, btw) is doing better than you expected! It takes a big heart to take care of a disabled animal. I hope your 2017 and her 2017 are both happy and healthy!

Just Trace - I played flute in band for a few years in high school and my daughter plays now. What a HUGE accomplishment for being in grade 10. He must be a gifted musician! And to be making some good friends must make you so proud and so much less worried for his future. My good friend has a son the same age with high functioning Asperger's and I know the struggle a mom's heart can go through, but it sounds like he's soaring right now!!!

Sounds like you have busy on upgrading your house as well. All good things indeed. Thanks for sharing!!!

Kim - I am hoping 2017 will be awesome for you!!! What a great success for your son. My oldest daughter is heading off to college in June and I'm so worried about how it will go.

2016 was a year of ups-and-downs: My husband was deployed from December 2015 to June 2016, one of our Sphynx, Merlin, was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma in February, and we were posted to a new city in October.

The good news: I finished my master's degree in August with a perfect GPA, have two publications where I am third author, and I start my dream job on January 16th! (It's only a one-year maternity leave replacement, but it's a great way to start, being a recent graduate). On top of it, Merlin continues to be our miracle boy and has outlived all expectations at this point! :)

I have found that each kid is different. The Dorms just didn't work for my oldest son and I wish we hadn't allowed that. My 2nd son is doing great in college but not at the dorms but I feel if he was at the dorms he'd probably be just fine because they have total different personalities. Just offer support as much as possible and Stay connected!

I find it also depends on the dorms! I hated the "regular" dorms. Hated them. Couldn't sleep, couldn't get any work done, didn't make any friends. I moved into a "study intensive area" in the dorms and I loved it! Quiet hours every evening, no constant partying, people who had similar attitudes to myself regarding why we were at university, and I made lots of friends! We still went out or partied, but only Friday and/or Saturday evenings, and even those evenings, there were quiet hours after midnight. So, I absolutely hated the regular dorms, but thrived in the study intensive dorms, and made some lifelong friends there! So it definitely depends on the individual, the dorms, and the university!

My year has started out pretty great! I am casually seeing someone serious for the first time ever in my life and I am liking where it is going. He is the sweetest and I am one lucky girl! Great family, friends and relationships! What else can a girl as for! Hoping 2017 will by my new year! I am going into this year trying to focus on my OLW -- INTENT and trying to apply it to all aspects of my life!

Looking forward to our annual "Girls Trip" for our 2nd cruise together! New places this time!

Oh and I am expecting my first niece in May and I am tooooo excited for my baby cousin that is having a baby! Planning the baby shower is so much fun and hoping to get the invite made here soon!

I love this post! 2016 was very tough for a lot of people! My good things right now are two happy and healthy kids. My boyfriend who I MET in 2016 is the best I could ever hope for!
