This year will be my first Survivor. Have you participated in previous years? Tell me about it.

What was your favorite challenge?

I'm soooo curious about this and can't wait!
 
I've done Survivor the last few years. It's fun. It's great that you have a week to do your layout (I think If I remember correctly). The hardest part is voting on who you like as there are many great pages.
And a new collab comes out! Also the gallery is rocking with pages and lots of comments.

A week to get a LO done...that is soooo doable! I'm in! Can't wait to sign up.
 
It usually starts right about now. There is always a theme, we get about 5 days to do a layout and the layout is on a sub theme. So, for example, last year's theme was "Cabin Fever" and we had challenges that related to the cabin. THe rules are pretty clearly posted and messing with the rules gets you kicked off

The first was texture, where you had to six different textures.
Week 2 you had to scrap a layout that was mostly white with a single pop of colour
Week 3 was a quote from a book
Week 4 was favourite outdoor activity
Week 5 was reflections

There were immunity challenges in between.

My favourite was the White Challenge
 
I absolutely love Survivor and can't wait to play again this year!! My fave is just being challenged, and also the huge collab!
 
I thought I had not previously taken part in Survivor but when I had a good look through my gallery I discovered I took part in the Digiland one. I only made it to round 2 and did not receive enough votes to go any further.
I hope to take part this year.
 
Survivor is so much fun! I've been doing it for a while now. The 'themes' are always amazing. How the story is written each year is incredible! And the challenges are very challenging.
There are 2 groups. One for staff. One for non-staff or at least that is how it has been in the past.

We are taking a cruise March 14-20, so depending on dates etc will depend on my participation. One year...I had to send votes in and get a page posted from Puerto Rico. I was sweating internet connection.

This really sounds like fun! So glad there is one for staff so that I can participate. I have a much better understanding of this now and the more I hear, the more excited I am getting for it to start!
 
I loved Survivor! I think the best part of it is the challenge of putting yourself outside of your normal scrapbooking style and learnign new techniques. I have learned so much and have equally enjoyed all the fun with the participants (called friends now!). You will not regret taking the challenge!

Yes, I agree. When we get pushed outside our comfort zone, we can try new things or old things in a different way and it all helps us to develop our style. I have gone thru different stages in my scrappy development, to get to where I am now and in large part that was due to challenges that pushed me to try, to learn, to not be afraid to experiment and see what happens.
 
I was looking at the dates that the first layout in the gallery was posted. I think it just happens whenever Ginger is organized for it and it works into the schedule.

First layout 2019 - Feb 16th
First layout 2018 - Feb 22nd
First Layout 2017 - Feb 9th
First Layout 2015 - Jul 9th
First Layout 2014 - Mar 15th
First layout 2013 - Oct 2nd

Great findings! It was the 2014 when I was praying for internet to send a LO in. We were on a cruise.
Now, I'm hoping it's later in March so I can participate.

I have a horrible memory but I think I have done it a few times. I never get very far because of life but I am hoping that my arm is healed enough that I can scrap by the 23rd and get passed the 2nd round. LOL
