Teacher gifts?

What end of year teacher gifts have you given? I'm planning early this year. Kids here in NYC go to school until the 26 of June. I always forget to get something. Have you made something or bought? Any ideas would help.

Thank heavens I don't have to deal with teacher gifts any more. I think they need to be usable, whatever they are. A teacher can only own so many #1 teacher gifts :) Gift certificates are always good. If you know of a hobby the teacher has, you can always do something with that. I have a teacher friend who loves slurpees - the kids have loads of fun with slurpee gifts.

I'm with Lynnie - A teacher friend of mine said she loves GC for Amazon. She uses them for school supplies rather than her own cash!

Kids in Australia don't finish until December so most gifts are chocolates but many of my teacher friends have said handmade gifts & gift cards are their favourite things.
I am an avid crocheter, so I usually make different kinds travel mug cosies & we get disposable coffee cups & lids & make cookies & other small treats to fit in the travel mug. The kids usually find out what the teachers favourite colour is & I do a cosy in that colour, last year though one of my sons had a particualrly difficult time & the teacher was a gem in helping him so he asked me to make her a scarf.

I have always donated at the beginning of the year to the sanitizer, tissue, wipes, snacks bins and then always get busy at the end of the year and forget the teacher gift. I'm a bad parent in that department but I make up for it in hours donated inside and outside of the classroom. My kids' teachers have always known that if they need anything, just give me a call. My first priority is to be there for my kids and that means to be there for those that teach them as well.

I made these one time....recycling a gum container. :)
