Spring Break

Anyone have any big plans for Spring Break? My kids are out of school next week, but we wont be leaving for vacation till the 16th. My MIL isn't off till the following week (she is the cafeteria lady at a private school) and since we travel together, we go on her schedule, ;) My poor kids will have to miss 2 weeks of school... They are so sad :36_1_19:

So I may not be around too much the last half off this month and that is why! What does everyone else have going on? When are your kids school breaks?

My kids are on spring break a whole month apart! I pick up son 1 at college this Friday, but son 2 doesn't have break until mid-April, right before Easter. So, we'll just hang out and spend time together on both breaks. Hope your vacation is great!

LOL, Michelle! I bet your kids are so sad, haha!

Cathy, that's tough when they are in different schools. My kids were like that for Christmas break.

Luckily for Spring Break they are all on the same schedule. They get off Good Friday until one week after Easter.
We don't plan on doing much, just Staycation around the area since Hubs and I have work.

Here in Maine the schools have 2 "spring" breaks (a week each) - Just had one in February and we went to Tybee Island/Savannah, GA for a week to visit my parents and escape the snow. We have another starting the week of Easter in April. We don't go anywhere then because track and field season has already started by then and my daughter has a meet during vacation. For that matter we usually don't go away during February break either because it's still basketball season but this year she couldn't play due to her knee surgery and rehab, so we took advantage of that this year!

That is nice they get a whole week off for Easter. We get Good Friday and the following Monday out.

It just happens that Easter falls the week of vacation this year; they always have the 3rd week of April off. The years Easter doesn't fall during break they don't get any extra days off, just the normal weekend. :)

I am off work for spring break and I am hoping to get some stuff done around the house! Spring cleaning lol. And maybe to go KC for the St. Patrick's parade.

Spring break is such a foreign concept to me! Back when I was in school, we had MARCH break - Spring Break was just a thing in movies and on TV. When I was in university, we had Reading Week - but that was always in February.

Our kids are long out of school now but here in Australia, the schools operate on 4 terms a year. First term runs from around the end of January until around Easter when they have a 2 week break, another 2 week break starting around the end of June, and another 2week break starting around the end of September. Then across December/January they have the long summer break, usually about 6 weeks. Term times differ slightly across the different states of the country and some private schools may have longer break times.

I am very confused about the timing of break and seasons in your post! ....Us dumb Americas, LOLOLOL j/k
I can't imagine DEC/JAN being Summer break? like warm weather?

We had so many snow days in january that we had to make them up on Martin Luther King Jr and President's day. I am SO ready to have a break! Snow days were fun but we were totally homebound and after coming off of 2 weeks off for Christmas, it wasn't really a big break.

I have two college kids living at home so things are complicated with traveling. However, I am spending all next week in NYC with my hubby on his business trip. The adult kids will hold down the fort and help the younger two get to and from school. Praying everything is ok while we are gone. I've never done this before and I am a little nervous.

The week after NYC, we are loading up the tent trailer and heading north to northwestern Washington to the Tulip Festival. The younger two get to go with us but older two are in college. Bummer.

Spring break is long gone for us. With both kids out of school and all. The one year they were in college at the same time, their break was a week apart. One the week before Easter, and one the week after.

I could use a spring break. Mother Nature is off her meds. Hard freeze this week in NC.
