Split Double Page

I did a quick play in PSE. First make two duplicate copies of the template. On one of the copies use the crop tool and set a custom crop of 12in x 12inch. Use the arrow key to nudge the crop shape until it is aligned at the left edge and then commit the crop. Repeat on second duplicate copy for the other half of the page.

I couldn't quickly find a double page template in my stash so in my playing around, I just put several different shapes on a 12in x 24in document using the Shape tool. I found that I had to simplify all the shape layers because even though half of a shape was cropped off the invisible portion (and outline) was still part of the document. But I don't really recall templates having active shape layers so you shouldn't have a problem.
