My husband asked what I'd like for Christmas and since I just discovered digital scrapbooking, I was thinking some software, but was would you recommend as far as programs? Right now my creations are limited to using powerpoint

I recently began using Photoshop Elements 2018...an upgrade from version 5. It has so many capabilities and there are endless tutorials available on You Tube and the internet for Photoshop Elements (PSE). Even tutorials for older versions are helpful. Paint Shop Pro is a good one also but I don't know how much support is available for it.
I highly suggest Photoshop!! I think Photoshop is the best all around program and there are SO many tutorials! We have a ton here at GingerScraps, https://forums.gingerscraps.net/forumdisplay.php?56-Tutorials and there are endless YouTube tutorials too!
In addition it is the industry standard, you can be sure that once you learn Photoshop you will not have to change programs because you grow out of a small basic program. Photoshop will do everything you need and so much more! I have been using Photoshop for over 10 years and I love it
