Sling TV

Has anyone ditched Comcast for SlingTV. I recently made the change and dont really miss it. I was paying $225-250 per month for Comcast. Just not in the budget now that I just bought a new car! What other TV alternatives have you checked out? Hulu? Netflix? Amazon Prime?

My husband tried Sling but didn't like it too much but it was right when it came out and they were still working the bugs out. We're going to be moving to Hulu Live TV as soon as we get the 4th gen Apple TV.

A lot of these services aren't available in Canada or don't have good selections in Canada. We currently have a year of cable TV free because we bought a new build, and it came with the house, but prior to that we didn't have any TV. We would use the various stations' apps to watch our favourite shows for free (new episodes are available for a week via the app). We will probably do the same once our free TV runs out.

We have basic cable included in our rent, otherwise we'd never pay for it. We mostly stream on Netflix, but have a few apps on our ROKU Smart TV for PBS and HGTV. We don't watch enough TV shows for Sling, but if we did, we'd probably choose something like that or HULU over paying for cable.

I am curious about Sling TV. What exactly does it offer? I just ditched cable this month and opted for good old antenna to get us some local news channels and then we stream Netflix all the rest of the time.

We use Sling - It has the channels we watch the most - TNT, Food Network, HGTV, Lifetime, Disney, Freeform, and ESPN so it works for us.

We used to have the TimeWarner package but was paying so much for it, we cut the cable cord (so happy we did) and just have internet. We got rid of sling because the shows would take to long to load. We have a mix of Netflix, Hulu and Amazon (from Amazon we get Starz). We also have an amazon firestick that we watch stuff on. For our local channels we have a USB antenna that we have plugged into the TV which gives us NBC, ABC, Fox, and CBS (and some others) but we can watch the news and other shows.

We've cut the cord before, and I happily would again if it weren't for football. I've heard great things about the Playstation Network if you have a playstation. That's probably the route we'll go if we cut anytime soon.

Netflix is fantastic for TV shows, but kind of meh for movie selection.

I would consider Hulu, now that they have a commercial free option. I hate commercials!

Right now we do most of our streaming through an Apple TV, but that's mostly because we're so entrenched in the Apple-verse.
