I just finished my siggy, and uploaded it, but to me, it is too big. I have PSE 13 on a trial basis. Can someone help me on how to size it just right? I set the resolution to 72 pixels. I think my problem is the pixel dimensions. When I set the width, the height sets itself to the same size as the width. How does it look to anyone out there that is seeing it?

Your image size is 700x700, you need to crop out all that white space at the top. I don't use PSE but I'm sure it has a crop option. It usually looks like this...

And after you crop it, you'll need to edit the size so it's under the allowed siggie dimensions of 700 x 150 pixels. It should look like this...

Okay,...so I have the white space cropped out, but I'm still struggling with sizes. I think I will delete what I have posted until I get it right. Thanks.

I am new to PSE 13 also...BUT....did you set your pixels to 72 first? OH...and all 3 boxes towards the bottom of the pop-up need to be checked first. Try that!

I use PSE13 so maybe I can help.

I use a blank page set at 300 psi - 3600X3600 to begin with. Then I make my siggy but being aware that it needs to be kept not very tall [about 1/3 the height of the page or less] and almost as wide as the page. Before you add shadows, etc... simplify your layers then add shadows. IF they are not simplified, you will get a white box around any unsimplified elements. I crop out all the excess space using the crop tool. Once I have it finished cropping and saving - I do a RESIZE IMAGE. Once the box pops up, set the 72 psi FIRST. Then set the width to 700 - that should set the height to the right size. Then do a SAVE AS jpeg...the box with the slider on it will pop up. Set the slider so that the size in byte is small enough [under 98KB]. Sometimes I have to slide it down to 4 or 5 to get that. Then do a save. Go back and un-do resize to get it back to normal and save as a PSD file again.

It sounds like I am going to have to start all over again. I'm not sure what you mean when you say to 'simplify' my layers, but after reading this, I opened up my siggy to make adjustments, and when I tried to make any changes, I did have a white box appear. I thought about pulling it into PSE 10 and working on it there. What puzzles me is the fact that I was able to upload it here at GS, no problem...it was just a little too big. I didn't think it would upload if it was too big. Anyway, I will try again and go by your directions. Thank you.

Well, now I feel that it's a little small, but it is better than it was before.....I guess. Thanks, Bright Eyes for your help. I will keep trying until I master this challenge. Hopefully, they will get better.

It looks great Karen, I'm glad you got it figured out ...and if it helps... Bright Eyes' siggie is larger than it should be. :D

Karen, glad you got the siggy made.

Yes, that dreaded 'white box' where an element should be - is a smart layer that has been re-sized! Took me awhile working in PSE13 to learn to simplify the layers once I got them where I wanted them. A 'smart layer' keeps them from pixelating or becoming fuzzy as you size it up. I love it when up-sizing photos as they are sharper than they are without being a smart layer.
