Shutterfly Books

For those who upload your layouts to put in Shutterfly books - do you add a 1/4 inch bleed? I haven't even printed layouts in years but I know the last time I did adding the bleed was recommended. Thank you in advance for any advice!

I make my pages 8x8 and then add a layout 7 1/2 x7 1/2 but it leaves a small white around the edges. You would have to have at least some bleed.

Shutterfly now has the "lay flat" feature upgrade. If that feature is desired and within your budget, then a bleed isn't really needed. I always print my top 115 layouts in one 12x12 Shutterfly book each year, and I just make sure that my journaling and favorite photos won't get lost the binding. If any of the edges of the pages get clipped, it's rarely enough to actually notice.

Oh... and as you build the Shutterfly book, you can select that your jpg fill the entire page OR you can select a Shutterfly template that leaves a white border around the jpg.

So there are lots of options. The best part of Shutterfly is the customer satisfaction guarantee. If you're unhappy with the final product, you can visit with their staff about how to make it right. (When I did my wedding album in 2011, I misspelled "February" on the COVER!!! Ack! They let me fix it, send back the misspelled book, and resent the replacement at no charge.)

What a great service, I should have thought that when I did a book a few years ago. I was really careful with my spelling and used spellcheck so I never thought the need to check it after that. My misspelling was chauffeur and it spelled it CHAFFERED!

Ugh! It's so frustrating to find an error, especially when you've checked it a hundred times. I swear that my brain has "auto correct"... it knows what I MEANT to write, so that's how I see it! LOL!!!!

I copy and paste from my journal on word, but I always still have mistakes. I just told my children and those receiving the books that it still came from me and we all make mistakes, just keep trying to be better.
