Should I get PSE 13?

I would wait until Black Friday and the new one will be out for half price at several places: Costco, Staples, Office Max and a few other places.

I don't like PSE13 at all. But I bought it for $70-something so I'm making myself use it. Hopefully with the next version they'll fix some of the annoyances, like objects are automatically smart objects if they're pulled up from the photo bin (but they lose their file name if they're pulled down onto the project in the photo bin) and they just pop in in random order rather than above the layer you have selected. Also, papers don't come in exactly centered so that's an extra hassle -- I've missed it a few times! You can hardly see the bounding box around the selected layer. That's not everything, but that should be enough to dissuade you today!

That sounds like a big hassle, Bekki! I have 11...I'm glad I didn't switch! I agree with Katherine-they usually come out with the next upgrade at the end of September & Black Friday sales are usually a great time to buy.

I have 12 and I am sticking with it. I typically don't jump to buy until enough other people convince me it is worth it.

I've had all the PSE versions from 6 on up through 13. In 13 I like how the interface is larger for big screen monitors, but I have found the program itself is rather glitchy. I still use 11 most of the time even though it's harder to see on a big screen as the interface is smaller. One tool I miss in 13 is the magic wand, and I'm hoping they will put that back in future versions. I'm hoping for some improvements in future versions. I have found the free trial download of each version from the Adobe site helps me to decide whether or not to purchase that version. I also watch for the sales when buying each time.

That's a great way to test out new versions. I have 11, but I never thought about DLing the trial of newer versions and testing it for a month. Do you have to delete your current version?

No, you don't have to delete any current versions on your system; and you can easily delete the trial version after the 30-day trial period is over. You also have an option at the end of the trial to purchase it from Adobe's website, but I don't buy there as I can usually find them on sale at a discount from Costco, Amazon, etc. in the fall months from September to Christmas. It's a great way to check out whether you think you like the new versions well enough to purchase!

The new version usually comes out at the end of September. It will be interesting to see what they change this time around.

Hi Janytime,

I'm just getting used to my new PSE 13, but just wanted to let you know that the magic wand tool IS in PSE 13, it's just nested within the Quick Selection tool. Not sure if it still works the same as older versions (I used 10 in the past), but the tool is there!! Thank goodness!!
