Scrapping the Icks

This week's blog post for Project 52 is going to be about scrapping through the sick times. My family is getting the colds, sinus infections, and the like, and sometimes you just don't want to take pictures BUT you do want to remember how cuddly the non-cuddlers get when they're sick, and such things.

How do YOU use those moments in your scrapping?
I will use quotes, but I will only use your first names :)

Thanks!

I like my albums to reflect our life as it is. So photos when they're sick is pretty normal here. (lol) When my kids see their albums/books when they are older, I want them to know the good, bad and the ugly of family life! I don't just scrap the good times, so the bad times are included too.

I usually just document how they felt, how long they were ill or poorly. I describe how I felt as well so they get it from a parent perspective as well. I think I am in the minority though, because my kids' books are filled with non happy, life is so sunshiney layouts. I really do believe in being realistic and I scrap that way too. :) When they had the chicken pox three days apart and were both miserable, I took photos and documented what chaos it was around the house. The itching, the crying, the whining..and that was just Dad and I (haha). But seriously, I want them to have those memories to share with their kids one day to be able to say "Hey, I've been there...LOOK!" :)

Hope that makes sense!!

I usually use a representative photo if we're sick. Over the years, there are plenty of photos of NyQuil bottles and tissue. When I was on crutches a few years ago, they showed up in my Project Life a lot. My mom was in the hospital, I waited until she left her room for tests, and took a photo of her hospital bed. I try to be respectful and not shove cameras in anyone's face when they're not feeling well. These kinds of things usually show up in my Project Life, but I do have one LO from our anniversary one year when we were very sick together. I took a photo of the calendar with our anniversary date, and wrote about how we felt crummy and spent the day watching TV with tissues together.
