Scrapping an Election Year

would you post your political art journal pages? I'm shy of doing it because I don't want to have anyone be offended if I believe differently, but it's part of life too. Have you? Would you?

I'm shy too, but I also have a thing about publicly posting my political views- I don't. But I'm not offended when others do. :)

I took pictures of the insane lines at the polling location when I voted so at some point I will be scrapping my voting experience. I think it's perfectly acceptable to post, like you said it's a piece of life. Not everything people scrap about I agree with, but it doesn't offend me that they are scrapping about it. I say go for it!

So many people ARE offended. They take it so personally if you do not feel the same way they do. Maybe I'll risk it and see what happens.

This is a tough one. I have seen so many UGLY "conversations" online between friends and family...even in response to posts saying no matter who you vote for we can still be friends. I hate that our America is so divided and angry about everything. And all it takes is a little spark...and whooosh!

If it's a page for my political view, I am keeping it to myself and for myself...but if it's a neutral voting page about the process I would share.

I think it's a really sensitive issue for a lot of people. If you look far enough back in my gallery, there are a couple of political LO's, but mostly generic "We voted" type pages. I'm finding it hard to post certain things right now because everything is so politicized, even up to whether or not you wear a mask. It's a weird time to post as much personal stuff as we do as scrapbookers. I want to make LO's that represent my beliefs but I often don't because I don't want to share them with people. It's hard to articulate big feelings like that (for me)

So I resort to scrapping memes a lot. I saw an article from a company endorsing one of the candidates recently and it perfectly articulated how I feel. I'm going to print it out and stick it in my scrapbook for 2020. I'll make a LO about how my family has voted differently in different parts of the country this year, and I'll probably post that. I'm sure anyone who looks hard enough can tell from my gallery which direction I lean politically, but I keep most of that to myself. Not really to keep from offending people, but mostly because I would rather post cute cat LO's. (If cats become super politicized, I'm screwed)

I literally have lost my family over politics. They have all chastised me, "educated me", shamed me, and finally just left me behind over politics. It breaks my heart. However, just like they do, I have deeply held and educated beliefs about things that are as much as a part of me as breathing. I can't deny them. So...my circle is small.

I even changed my FB page because too many of my "friends" only posted on my page to educate my wrong positions.

I'm much lonelier, but more hassle free. LOL

I might just save those posts for my project 52 book and not post them. Some I have used with CT duties, and I feel the need to post them because of that, but I think what I'll do is no longer make them with CT products so that I don't have to post them.

Yeah that's probably best. I meant to say that in my previous post but I went off on a tangent- I keep my CT posts very neutral with political things. I don't want my personal beliefs to conflict with their brand.

I’m not even USA but I see the division and have actually been blocked by friends for posting memes.

Sometime this week in a group i post ct stuff to, I saw a beautiful page but it was making fun of something President Trump said. It wasn’t political aligned I thought. The comments on it were ugly, terrible and uber personal attacks. Saying they would leave the page if it remained posted. Were the “nicest things” just crazy. It wasn’t much more than when Prime Minster Trudeau fumbled the words for tetra packs in a speech and went through many words. It became a meme that still is around.

I think it's up to you whether or not you want to post your views. But if you do post them publicly you have to realize that people will judge those views. I would hope that people here would not be rude or mean (I don't think they are as) but opening posting publicly does open yourself up.
