I live near Saint Paul Minnesota and The Great Minnesota Get-Together is very big here in August. Do you live near your state's fair? Is it a big deal there? What's your favorite part of your state fair?

I L.O.V.E going to the Great Minnesota Get-Together!!! It's a definite must every year!!

We (obviously) don't have state fairs here. lol. We do have the Royal Canadian Exhibition though in Toronto. It's on 2 weeks in August every year. It's over 100 years old. We havent' been in at least 10 years. It's very crowded and my DH doesn't like crowds like that much. He gets annoyed and antsy.

We have fall fairs here for most cities though. Most small towns and even the bigger ones have them. We go to at least 4 in September to October. The biggest one is Thanksgiving weekend and it's the Rockton World's Biggest Fair. It's huge!

Being Canadian, we have neither states, nor state fairs! However, a lot of large cities do have exhibitions. As Trace said, there is one in Toronto, and there's an Ex in Ottawa, Winnipeg, and pretty much every other major city in the country.

I prefer the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto over any of the exhibitions. The Royal has more of the things I'm interested in!

We have several across the state - some are more "commercial" with lots of rides and performers and some are more "country" with more livestock, food exhibits, quilt exhibits, etcl., but they do have some rides. We also have what's called the Common Ground Fair, which is a big agricultural fair for organic farmers of all kinds (vegetables, fruits, llamas for wool, etc. We always go to the Common Ground and we go to one of the fairs that are more country than commercial (the one in our city is very commercial - loud, noisy, dirty, and a lot of "riff-raff" - lol. We prefer to drive the hour or so to the smaller country fair.
