Question on cataloging scrapbook supplies.

Well my computer crashed - the good news is that I had all my pictures, scrapbook supplies and scrapbook pages backed up so I did not lose all the good stuff. I still have to reinstall all my programs and one of the things that I never thought to backup was my PSE catalog so all the scrapbook kits that I had cataloged are no longer cataloged. So my question for all of you is do you catalog your kits and if so do you use PSE or some other method. I loved my PSE catalog and used it all the time but the thought of re-cataloging all my kits is very depressing as it would take me months to do it - so I am looking for suggestions.
Thanks
Bernice

I feel your pain, hurt, disbelief this is happening... and sigh.
Been there.
I get you.
I used to catalog ( very detailed) using ACDSee.
That one poofed

Anyhow. I tag the previews by theme. Templates by the number of photo spots.
And I use Adobe bridge. And created my own list to tag.
In PSE it is the organizer I believe.

I have never used Adobe bridge. I may have to just start over with any new kits I buy and add the old ones as I find the time.

:(I too feel your pain! I use Organizer in PSE15. I used to catalog every single item, and then when I discovered Gingerscraps I was like a kid in a candy shop and that just became waayyyy too labor intensive. Now with each new kit, I use a program called Bulk Rename to give everything within the kit a consistent name: designer_kit name_item. Then I make sure I have a preview for the categories within the kit (alphas, elements, papers) and if there isn't a preview I use Windows Snipping Tool to create one. I only upload the previews into Organizer, tag them by source, designer, kit name, color, theme(s), number of pictures in a template. I was caught up until that darn Black Friday sale LOL

My pain this morning was finding 129,000 files in my Amazon Drive trash can:cryhard Good news is that I can retrieve them but only 1000 files at a time. Apparently the sync I thought I'd been doing, moved everything into the trash.

I don't catalog but I am a "kit" scrapper. I do store all my kits by "theme" within a store folder. I figure I typically scrap by theme anyway so why not do what works for me. Good luck with your daunting project.

Thanks everyone for the kinds words. I have been spending the morning loading back into PSE my preferences, actions, and styles so I can at least get back into the swing of making pages.

I don't catalog my supplies. I use folders that are sorted by digistore, then designer, then their kits. I use Pinterest to pin my template previews each designer having their own board.
