PSE 15 reset on me and I lost my settings. How do I get my open files to open in the photo bin and not on my workspace? I have played around with the preferences and can't figure that one out.

I googled a couple for you. I am not sure if it helps or not, but here are a couple results I found. I hope it helps. If not, I will keep googling for you.

[h=2]Panels in the Expert mode[/h]

In the Expert mode, panels can be displayed in two ways - Basic Workspace, and Custom Workspace.

Basic Workspace

By default, the available workspace displayed is the Basic Workspace. In this view, buttons for the most frequently used panels are placed in the taskbar. The buttons in this workspace are Layers, Effects, Graphics, and Favorites. For example, clicking the Layers button displays all the layers-related options. To view all the other available tabs, or close open tabs, click More.

Custom Workspace

To view panels in a tabbed layout in the Panel Bin, click the arrow next to More, and select Custom Workspace. Click More to view a list of all the available tabs, and select one from the pop-up list. The selected tab is displayed. You can keep the frequently used panels open in the custom workspace. Group panels together or dock one panel at the bottom of another panel. You can drag title bar of the tab and drop it in the tabbed layout, or drag-and-drop the tabs dialog into the tabbed layout.

Thank you so much! I learned a few things but not exactly what I was after.

Maybe what I need to know is how to minimize several files once they are opened so they only show in the photo bin and not opened in little windows in the top corner of my workspace.

Hmm- I think I know what this is. So will ask a bunch of questions

1. Are the files opening in the top left corner stacked on top of each other?

2. Previously did the files open within the workpace area of PSE (so that you could see them at a good size view but they didn't cover the tools panel at the left?

3. Could you describe the "little"windows as postage stamp size?

4. Did Windows 10 recently update?

A Windows 10 update "broke"my PSE 2018. When I google searched "files open in postage stamp sized windows in PSE - I saw this was a problem for both 15 and 2018. I tried all the suggested fixes except uninstall and reinstall (which reportedly didn't work) - none of the suggestions worked.

To open multiple files so that you can see the full window go to the Menu bar> Window>Images>Float All in Windows
- they all open at a size as they normally used to - BUT if there are a lot of files they cascade down and cover the photo bin and you have to manually move or minimize each window. Which was really irritating. Pressing Ctrl+0 will open the top file to normal size. Then click on the next little window Ctrl+0 repeat - repeat etc. I seldom use PSE in full screen mode so the stack of little windows is at the top left of my monitor screen and not blocking any of the panels in PSE.

Not a good situation but you get used to it because there is no choice. I have learned to just look at the files in the photo bin and if there is a file I would like a closer look at - I click on the icon in the photo bin and do Ctrl+0 to open it to full window. I haven't taken the time recently to google any more solutions- My PSE 2018 "broke"after an update a couple months ago.

Thank you Rochelle! Yes, yes, yes and yes. I wouldn't say mine is broken but it sure is annoying to have to minimize them to get to my tool bar.

Thanks!!
