Project 365|P52|Project Life-like

Okay, if you've done the P365/52 challenge this year, you'll know that I'm the "head" of it.

I'm looking for ideas on how to bump and get everyone (or more people) involved!

What suggestions would you make to increase involvement? What would help YOU in doing the project?

I've done this for years. Recently I switched to more of a two page spread per month rather than weekly. I also seem to never be able to complete it in the current month since I like to wait until the end of the month to scrap the whole 2 page spread. That always means I can't participate in the challenges here since the pages HAVE to be from that current month to get credit. I would love it if there was a way to extend it to getting credit for October into November etc (still with a limit to 4 total points or however many are decided on for next year). I think more people would participate if we had some 'extra' time to post our pages and still get 'credit' for them. Just my thoughts.

I have been doing this project since 2009. I love it. I just don't ever stay current on it. I also forget to post them in the challenge threads.

I'm not sure how to get more participants.

Promote how easy it is to scrap family memories.
Share journal cards and pocket style templates that people can use to make it easier.

I've been doing it for years also. I agree with Amy, maybe opening up the dates a little would encourage more people.

One thing that I do appreciate about this challenge is the ability to scrap one event from a given week, instead of having to do the whole "7 pics from 7 different days" deal. I do my actual PL pages without using any product at all, so they don't qualify for the challenge, but scrapping one event or one moment from a week helps me do more "current" scrapbooking, which I love. Maybe you could promote that aspect of the challenge. I think a lot of people ring the whole P365 idea to be intimidating, but they might find the P52 more manageable, if that makes sense.

Yes, I agree - promote that things can be done outside the box.

It doesn't have to be a POTD every single day.

Like Jen said, an important event can take up the whole week.

I don't take a photo every single day. I take one most days though. Then there are days when I take a ton of photos.

I also do a misc two page spread at the end of every month for those photos I wanted in the book but could't fit in the week spread.

I want to try this for 2015! :) I like the idea of the "catch-all" page at the end of the month, Colleen.

Lori - you have to try it! It's really pretty easy. I do a pocket style way, so it's super quick and easy! ;)

I pick a different kit for each month.

I also do a monthly title page where we take a new family photo every month. So I have the Monthly Family Title Page next to a Random Photo Page. Then I do the weeks 1-7, 8-14, 15-21, 22-28, 29-30/31. The 29/30-31 page has the other Random Photo Page next to it. In February there are 3 Random Photos pages.

Trina and I do ours the same way. lol

Really - I love P365! It's so much fun to order our family yearbooks and look at them! I just looked at them the other day with my son! ;)

It would help me to have a bigger time window. I noticed from my first failed attempt at this that most of our big family photo-worthy events happen on the weekend, so if I try it again, I will probably always be running a week behind. I need the extra time to make a LO I'm not ashamed to put up for public viewing.

I'm also tempted to do a version of PL where it's a mashup of art journaling and PL. Maybe even a little bit of how I wish my week had gone, instead of how it really was. Crazy, I know!

So for me, "permission" to color outside the lines and still get challenge credit for turning something in would be nice. Just thinking out loud here.

I agree with opening up the window to allow for catch up. I would start doing it every year, then get so behind.

My weeks would be Monday-Sunday, it just worked for me with weekends at the end of the page.
Sometimes I wouldn't have a picture for a particular day and the journaling would say...just lounge, haha!

I really enjoyed making the pages. I would love to print it out at the end of the year so I know how our year went. Now with Oh Life down, I need a way to remember my days...

Here are some examples when I was doing it

Gosh, I had a grand time looking through the pages, LOL! Now I'm inspired to do it again!
LOL, love this one... Sat-Sun...complete blur... !!

I don't do Project Life (too stressful for me), but one of the designers I CT for on another site started doing PL-type templates each month. So, I started doing a monthly recap. I really love those pages, and think I will continue doing that every year.

Okay, ladies, I sent Ginger an email and when I hear back, I'll give you an update! :D

I like the idea of opening up the eligibility for layouts, but there would have to be a limit on that (which I mentioned to Ginger; as I said, an update when I hear back, I promise).

Also, LADIES WHO DO THE CHALLENGE!!
If you'd be willing to answer a few questions, let me know (here in the thread or through PM), because I'd like to ask y'all a few questions on how you do the project, for a fun little thread for 2015, in that area!

Thanks, Loves!

Another add: I'm sorry I've been quiet in the thread. Weeks got busy and the past week, I've barely been functional because of a head cold. It's slowly getting better (thus far today, NO MEDS needed, first time since Tuesday!!)!

I'm new here, but had to check out this thread.....really enjoyed reading all the comments....I have done "Something" for 5 years now...P365, P52, P12, you name it I have done it....I have to say I get to the half way point and get bogged down. I am determined to do all the LO and this year finished two years. Sadly 2014 was not one of them .....yet. I have to do them or else kids and Grandkids will wonder "Just what happened to Grandma in the middle of every year....looks like she ran away from home for 6mo or something" I do have all the photos, nicely filed so no excuse not to do them. Right????

LOL I hear you! I have a few MIA times every year. For me it's almost always the summer. I just get super overwhelmed with so many extra photos.

OFFICIAL OFFICIAL UPDATE WILL BE around Friday.
Those who PM'd me, saying they'd be okay with a quick Q/A, I'll send those questions after!

Thank you, Ladies!

<3

Happy holidays!

Things that are staying the same:
Still allowed up to four points a month.

Things that will NOT be changing:

There won't be a catch-up allowed.
You will be able to use the catch-ups for CURRENT challenges though. Font, brush, template, etc are GREAT for them!
The reason is because if we did it for the P52 challenges, we'd have to do it for all of them, and that's just not fair (and it's a lot of extra work for Missi).

BIG CHANGES:
I'll be BLOGGING about the journeys through the Gingerscraps blog! I've got Ginger's okay! We used to have a section on it, and well, this is perfect!
So, I might be hitting up regulars for permission to share their layouts, and even spotlighting kits that will work with the coming week or month!

Thank you SO much for all of your input!

(sorry this is later than I'd planned!)

Sounds good! I know from experience that the other challenges are great for catch-up pages. I did a few of my 2011 PL pages for challenges in November and they worked out pretty well. I will probably do that some more in 2015. I might actually make that a goal for next year to do a couple of catch up pages each month.

I'm still torn on how to do PL this year. I might wait until closer to the end of January to decide.

Here are some make-up pages I was talking about...
