Photo apps

So, while I was at a youth leadership camp recently, my students share with me a “new app” (aka one I haven’t heard about). It was called BeReal. The kids explained it was the anti-instagram…. That there are no filters and you’re just supposed to show your real self. The app sends out a notification once a day with a two minute window. You’re supposed to take a photo during that two minutes and post it. It uses both the front and back cameras. It’s kind of fun to see what everyone is doing at the same time of any given day. The times of the notification vary greatly, too.

So I’ve added that app and have been having fun with it. But I was wondering, what other apps do you use to connect with your friends? Other than the major apps that are popular, are their other apps you would recommend for fun?

I've heard of that one, but I don't know if any of my friends and family would participate. It sounds fun though!

I've backed way off social media this year so I mostly text people my photos when I share them, so I'm pretty boring :)

that is a cool sounding app. We keep in touch via WhatsApp and Telegram. I have a group with my son in England on one and a group with my son and daughter here on the other.

Marco Polo is great! I use it with my son and daughter-in-law and know others who create a family group to keep in touch with one another and of course you could create friend groups too. It's all about short videos which you send to one another.

I use FB messenger and a text message. I'm not into a b'zillion apps.

Thanks for these responses! I appreciate hearing what other apps are out there that people actually use! :)

I don't nor have I ever owned a cell phone. Never really needed one when I used to go out I was always with my husband and he has one but he is not into apps. I like seeing the photos that people use to put funny things on their faces I think that one is cute.

I agree, Linda. I think you're talking about the fun Snapchat filters. I have a smart phone, but I limit myself to what apps I download. Time is limited, so if I think the app may be a time drain, I avoid it. LOL! Also, my daughter is grateful that I don't have accounts where she likes to post. Ha.
