Paper

I think my problem is with a setting, but don't know which one. When I want to work with a paper and make it fit someplace if I make it wider it makes the paper longer. If I then make the paper shorter, it makes it wider. Any Suggestions. Appriciate it.

Most likely something like you need to hold down a key (or not hold down a key), look for constrain proportions settings. But yes, we can defiantly help more if we know the program you are using :)

That’s a very common setting issue, no worries 😊
What’s happening is that the aspect ratio is locked, so when you change the width it automatically changes the height (and vice-versa).

How to fix it in Photoshop Elements 2026 (Photo Editor):

If you’re resizing with the Move Tool or Transform:
  1. Click on the layer you want to resize
  2. Select the Move Tool
  3. Make sure “Maintain Aspect Ratio” (or the chain/link icon) is turned OFF in the tool options
  4. Now drag the side handles to resize width or height independently
If you’re using Image → Resize → Scale:
  1. Go to Image → Resize → Scale
  2. Look for the lock icon next to Width & Height
  3. Click the lock to unlock it
  4. Adjust width or height separately

Tip for digital scrapbooking:

Normally you want the aspect ratio locked to avoid distortion so keep that in mind :)
