New or Used Vehicles?

In our 50 years together, we have only just this past month purchased a brand new car. Our previous newest ones were my current car, a Toyota Yaris which was 6 months old when we got it, and previous to that we had a Mitsubishi Magna which was 18 months old. All other cars have been quite old when we got them, couldn't afford anything better. Our brand new one (which will be the family car but used mostly by hubby...his golf clubs fit into the boot:D) is a Mitsubishi Lancer. We are just now home from a long road trip and he is very happy with the new car's performance.

I think I've owned only 1 brand new car in my lifetime (and it was actually a truck). I usually buy one that is about a year old with low miles. This past summer I bought my current car from the dealership (program car) - a year old with just over 10K miles on it.

We have purchased two used vehicles and spent more money on them than we care to admit. Since then we purchased a brand new car, which we kept for 10+ years and traded in for our current new minivan, which we hope to have for another 10+ years. We did just buy my husband a used hybrid for him to get back/forth to work with low mileage. Hopefully we don't get stuck with another junker and have to invest more money in to that car vs buying a new car.

We will be buying a used car for my daughter when she gets her license. When it's PCS-season here on post, a lot of families list their second car for dirt cheap. Given the hail and the fact that she'll be a new driver, we'll try to get one of those desired PCS-sale cars!

I have never purchased new. Our cars have always been used. Would be amazing to drive a brand new car off the lot someday!

We have three cars. One car is replaced every year through a management role lease with my hubbies job (my car). My hubby was gifted my Dad's F-150 last year after my dad died and the truck sat for 3 years unused (2005 truck) and my oldest son drives a focus that we got new 15 years ago.

I've always leased. Now I'm used to the payment and having a new car that is covered under a warranty gives me the piece of mind that I shouldn't have to sink a ton a money into it for repairs. Plus I get to pick a new one out every 3 years.

We have always bought new vehicles and we also have one hand-me-down from my MIL. All our cars are over 15 years old, one of them 20 years old!!! OMG, I just realized that, wow!! They all work really well still, but I really want a new to us car. I've been trying to convince the hubs to get a used car, but we shall see.....
