Nervous!

I'm heading out shortly to the first meeting of a challenge group that I signed up for at a local gym. It seemed like too good a deal to pass up.... $112 for 8 group training sessions, a month's membership and nutrition support, plus programs that you can do on your own when not at the gym. It was targeted for women 25-55 who have 15-30 pounds to lose. Well.... I am on the high side of the age (50) and I have about 70 pounds to lose.... so I'm afraid that I am going to be the oldest and heaviest person there, and that takes me WAY out of my comfort zone. This is not at my regular gym... so I won't know anyone there either. (Which, come to think of it, could be a good thing!) LOL! I know that this is what I need to kickstart my weight loss, but my stomach is churning right now. I've lost about 12 pounds since June, mostly by doing cardio. I know that the weight lifting is what I need to do. Hopefully this will give me the incentive to keep going in the right direction. Keep your fingers crossed for me please.... :)

You can do it LOri!! My stomach always churns at "new things" so I can imagine, but somehow I always get through it! Sometimes I take a benedryl and that helps calm my stomach. :) But it also makes me sleepy, so might not be a good idea for a work out day!! After today you won't be "new" and things will be easier.

Go for it Lori. I do a group training. Each week there are 3-4 of us. Although we have our trainer with instruction, we each move at our own pace. One gal never gets on the Bosu - she can't yet. It took me several weeks when I started before I could use the Bosu.
Just do what works for you.

Way to go, Lori! I'm sure you'll do great!!! :) You'll have to let us know how it all goes! :D

You'll do great! What a great opportunity, I wish we had something like that here - and pretty reasonably priced too!

Thanks ladies! Not sure what happened to the post I typed a while ago, but anyway.... LOL.

Well, I wasn't the oldest, but I was the heaviest... which is ok. This already seems like a super supportive group. There are 10 of us, with a whole variety of different fitness levels and goals. We took time to get to know each other a bit, and our trainer Lisa talked about this being a judgement free zone, etc. Admittedly, this is hard for me. I'm always looking around the room for people heavier than I am. There were some women there who I looked at and thought "What the hell is SHE doing here?" but when we went around and shared our stories, I was surprised by them. One woman that I thought was quite fit said that she has gained 30 pounds in the last year. Her sister, who lost about 100# 6 years ago, has started gaining and wants to stop that now so that she doesn't end up back where she started. I can totally relate to that.... except that I DID end up back where I started. Ugh. Anyway, after we went around and shared, Lisa led us through some exercises to make sure that our form is accurate, and then we did circuits for the remainder of the time. It was only about 20 minutes, but I know I'll be feeling it tomorrow. We will be doing this every Tuesday and Thursday for the month of August. I started at (gulp) 46% body fat, which was tested with skin calipers. OMG. Nowhere to go but up! (or down, as the case may be! LOL!)

keeping my fingers crossed for you, Lori! go for it, you know you can do it! :kisses

You might want to do some relaxing stretches B4 hand, to relax your body & the muscles, & therefore be less tense/Nervous!!

Like you I'll be joining something similar, however different. I'll be joining a Doterra Essential oils weightloss group in a different town from which I live & they have beneficial weight loss supplements & shakes & bars & essential oils & special massage therapy to help with weight-loss. Then I will eat special foods that I know are healthy for me & also do exercises called: T-TAPP: created by Teresa Tapp. Less Is More With T-TAPP, seeing as the exercises are intense & therefore one needs to do less to get ideal results. I'll be joining this weight-loss program in the Beginning of September & the meantime, trying to take care of myself the best that I can in the meantime.

Remember to do some stretching, which helps one relax prior to getting into an intense routine & do not forget to breath deeply, which helps calm the body down.

Remember laughter is good medicine, so keep smiling!!
:)

Way to go Lori! I am so proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone and getting it on! You are awesome! Here's to everything down! (I didn't want to say looking up! :))
