Misleading Store Layouts?

I'm wondering what the policy is for example layouts that are shown attached to store kits. I just bought a kit specifically because of an image that was in a couple of the example layouts but it isn't in the downloads I got. I'm kinda bummed. :(

Could it possibly have been an item from the add-on packs? The CT for designers have access to all parts of a kit in order to promote them. Occasionally I have seen layout examples that might also use a separate product from the designer such as borders, border/frame templates, masks etc. But, I do understand your disappointment.

I understand about buying different parts separately, but I just feel that if you are selling a kit as a whole then it should include everything. Especially when layouts are being made to show examples on the page to buy a whole kit.

I remember once buying a kit because I thought it had a British flag in it. Turns out it was the New Zealand flag with the Union Jack in the top right - I felt like a ninny when I pm'd the designer :)

I have to say that I am guilty of altering elements when I do layouts for kits. For example, if there is a four petaled flower, I might duplicate it and turn it to make an 8 petal flower. I hope it wasn't something like that.

I do this all the time. I have even recolored elements to go with my pictures. Heck, I have changed the color of shirts to go with a kit too. Oh the fun of scrapbooking and PSE. It is my creative outlet and what keeps me mostly sane.

MOSTLY sane LOL!

I try really hard to make sure any layout in the shop that goes with my kits only has kit items in it. It gets tricky with some templates these days - items in those can look like kit elements. But I always try to be aware of what might be mistaken for a kit element / paper / alpha and ask the CT member who did the layout to take that item off of the layout. I also have a comprehensive list of all kit items in my descriptions. I don't want anyone to be disappointed.

Your complaint is one serious reason I list what is in my kit in the kit description. I also invite customers to email me if they have a question about contents. For me, my kits are very often too big for you to see everything that is included in the previews. Lots of bang for your buck. When I spot an element in a layout that I love I look closely at the previews to see if I can spot it, if I can't, I contact the designer to ask. From the point of view of a designer, it is very hard to 100% control what your creative team puts in their layouts - imo they work very hard to create beautiful layouts in order to have free kits often spending hours on just one layout - however I do try for the most part to not show layouts with journal cards from an add-on pack etc with the kit's sale page.
