Managing Fonts

I'm sure someone has asked this before, but I'm asking again. :)

What do you use to manage your font collections? Are you on Mac or PC?

I'm a font junkie, but I'm trying to cut down on the number of fonts I have activated because the font menus end up huge! Mac OS X unfortunately comes with a bunch of foreign-language fonts that you can't disable, so they clog up my menus.

I find Mac's default Font Book to be insufficient for managing my fonts. Right now I'm using a very old version of Linotype FontExplorer X because the newer pro version is way too expensive!

So what do you use to manage your fonts? How do you organize them? Do you create folders, collections, or use the organizing capabilities of whatever manager you use?

I use nexus fonts to keep mine organized. I have mine in folders right now for commercial use and personal use. You don't have to install the fonts if the program is open. It is pretty cool to use.

I have a macbook too and use Font Book. I don't mind it so much except that I somehow would like to figure out how to not have ALL of the fonts show up in PSE because there are just too many. I have many favorite scrapbooking fonts and I hate having to scroll through 1000 fonts every time I get ready to use the type tool. Following this too...hopefully someone will have a slick trick we don't know about

I use Font Viewer. Like Kimberly stated, I too keep mine in folders by themes and just use the font viewer when I need a font to work in photoshop.
My Font Categories:
Calligraphy; CK fonts; Decorative; Dingbat; Disney-cartoon-ish themed; Grunge_Stamped_sketch; Handwriting_children; Handwriting_print; Handwritten script; Pea fonts; Retro; SF Fonts; Stitched; Themed [Christmas, food, Halloween, Mexican, RR etc]; Title_Thick_3D or Brush; Typewriter; Western.

I use Font Book on my Mac as well. I like that Adobe CC saves my most used fonts at the top. It makes it super easy for me! :) In all honesty, I don't switch between my few favorite fonts very often.

I have a ton but don't have a system. They are all just installed. LOL..I really should look into something.

I do have a list of my faves so I know exactly where to scroll to.

I used Nexus Font, too. I really like that I can see what I am typing in different fonts! It really has helped me pick out cool fonts!

I have so many installed, how can you use them if they aren't installed?!
for Font Viewer:
Open the program- there are 2 tabs. On the left is shows 'installed' fonts. The right tab says : Not installed fonts. Click it.
Navigate to a folder where you store them. Mine is on the D drive [along with my digi stuff].
Select the font wanted
then click below: install font temporarily.

As long as the Font viewer is open [it can minimize] the font shows up in photoshop.

ps- ACDSee can do it too but this is easier.

I did a Search for font viewer and these 2 came up:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/font-viewer/9wzdncrdklxv

https://download.cnet.com/AMP-Font-Viewer/3000-2316_4-10361403.html

Which one is it?
