Looking Through Old Kits from 2008 or so...

and I notice that there are so many different versions of Kraft papers and photo corners, and straight clean stitches - three things you don't see too much of anymore! I love short stitches, but I'm really not into a bunch of messy stitches. I'm too anal compulsive for them. LOL

I really liked Kraft Paper and stitches, so I pulled some from Gina Cabrera's old kits and I'm gonna use them!! :)

If you are a long time scrapper, is there anything you miss in kits that used to be there that aren't so prolific anymore?

Oooh good question! I need to go fishing around my old kits and see. I feel like generally I like things so much better now, but I do miss kraft. I was actually thinking of scrapping a weekend away recently and thought I'd use kraft backgrounds to unify the LO's a little.... so I waited around and looked at new releases.... and there are hardly any kraft papers to be found. And it's fall! So I'm broadening my definition of kraft to "light brown paper" like I did here. Which really it's not a big deal and I'll be okay without kraft in my life, but it was kind of surprising that there isn't more out there.

I hear ya! Yeah, I really loved the Kraft paper that looked like paper bags...for some reason they looked great with paint splashes and fun messy stamps!

This one used the stitches and kraft I'm talking about.

I also miss these kind of ripped backgrounds. If anyone knows where I can find these (as this one was in the batch of kits I lost), I'd love a nudge in the right direction!

Yes! Especially white paint against kraft!

I don't know about that particular torn paper, but Oooh La La, Just So Scrappy, Pixelily, and Aprilisa do a lot of torn papers.

I used to love kraft too. And bazzill. lol...textured digi papers like that are hard to find anymore.

I love those torn papers. I really want to find some wrinkled up papers. They were pretty hot back in the day with inked up spots. :)

I was looking for kraft paper the other day & couldn't find it...It was so frustrating!
Trace, when I paper scrapped, I had SO much Bazzill! LOVED it and horded it!

Tam, me too!! I loved the feel of it and how sturdy it was to load up the page. :) I still have some left in my cupboard. Hasn't been used for years but I can't get rid of it.....what if I need it someday! LOL

Right, Trace?! Me, too! I gave away/sold almost all my paper, but I kept my Bazzill! LOL! I will use it some day hehe

I have always wanted to sit down for a few hours and just create a kit with old kits and see what comes of it. There are so many great pieces I have stored on my External hard drive that need to be brought back out to life. Maybe that would be a fun Challenge here to take your favorite designer create a kit using their old pieces and make an image with it like the designers use in the store with all the new pieces and see how it looks, the best "kit" would win a prize from that designers store or something. I think that would be super FUN!!!!

Have you guys seen this site? They take a kit club or manufacturer's line and make similar kits from their stash each month. They used to have digi people on the team, but I think it's all paper now. I've wanted to do it for a long time. I think it would be fun to try.

Edit- This is their main info post. It'll make the concept make more sense.

I know right? They used to have one or two digi ladies on the team. They would just use digi products that have a similar look or theme to the paper kits. Looking at the papers in the Cedar Lane collection (November's kit) I'm sure it would be easy to find something close in digi. And we could easily make the word stickers and things with fonts. I might try this after DSD madness is over.

When I find pieces of kits I want to keep FOREVER, I move them and categorize them into folders. For example, I may not like or reuse a particular old kit but I liked the stitches so I move them to a stitches folder. I really like the older clean stitching as well. Simple. And when I am cleaning out kits of objects I will never use, I just toss them out. I am not a fan of old fashioned or vintage-y items and birds...I don't do birds LOL.
