for a couple of college visits with my son, his friend and friend's mom. We live in Maine, and we're heading to Philly! AJ is looking to study music therapy, and that program doesn't exist around here, so he's looking at both Temple University and Elizabethtown College this weekend. Pretty excited to get away for a couple of days!

Wow, I remember looking into Universities, lucky for me there were 4 right in Montreal! I hope you have a safe trip, and that he gets smitten with one of the two places!

oh man, Lori....college :(
Good luck to AJ? and hope he finds the college of his dreams. Hopefully the drive isn't too long.
Have a safe trip, hugs!!

Hope your visit is going well! It's an exciting time when you go for college visits. So much to take in!

I always give our music therapists a hard time here at Children's Hosp., because they just run around all day and sing with the kiddos ;) Good luck Lori and have fun, I love road trips!

Hope you have a great trip and that your son finds his dream college! We've been on a couple college trips recently - it really is exciting!

Thanks ladies! AJ absolutely loved Temple! Everyone we talked to really was very happy there. We had the chance to meet up with a student who is the daughter of someone my friend knows, and she took the boys around and introduced them to some other music students. Great experience for all of us!

We had Philly Cheesteaks for dinner downtown, and then AJ and I went to see one of his favorite singers perform at the World Cafe Live. It was a very small and intimate venue - fantastic concert!

Tomorrow we're going to an open house at a much smaller school a couple of hours west of here, and then we're heading home. We've had a wonderful trip so far and it's been a lot of fun sharing it with AJ's friend and his mom. We all get along really well and the boys have been friends for a long time. It would be pretty cool if they both ended up going to school here. :)

Glad that you are enjoying your time Lori!! Also, I bet it would be a blessing if both of the boys go to the same school!!

Yes, it sure would! They both loved Temple, and AJ really didn't care for Elizabethtown that much. The only drawback to Temple, IMO, is the fact that the area surrounding it is not the greatest. Just last night, when I searched up the Temple website, google gave me an article about a Temple student who was shot yesterday just outside the campus in an attempted robbery. Eek! From all that we heard, though, Temple is a very safe school. Their police force is the 3rd largest in the entire state of Pennsylvania. :)

Super long drive yesterday. 2 hours to get to E-town, then 8 hours home. So glad to sleep in my own bed last night!

How did the visits go? My daughter's best friend just graduated with her degree in music therapy. She went to school in Boston (I could find out where if you would like). I had never even heard of music therapy until she left for Boston!

They went great - he loved Temple! I would love it if you found out where... the only school I know of in Boston that offers the program is Berklee (although I could be wrong). That would definitely be a "reach" school for my son, because his grades are not stellar... they're above average, but B+ish. Not sure that would be enough for Berklee.

I'm glad he found a school he liked. Yes, it was Berklee that she went to :)
