I just want to say how proud I am of this scrapbooking community for hanging in there and still being strong after all of these years! I KEEP coming back here, even though I'm not a "regular". I got my heart broken when MY online family bit the dirt SO many years ago. Tried like hell to find that community feeling again, but never felt it, so finally just gave up. I was with "The Scrapping Garden". It was a long time ago and I doubt any of you remember it now. I truly just wanted to say that I'm proud of you all for still being here.:)

I agree. I've had to move stores a couple times as a designer due to store closings. It's just so sad all around! Long live GS ♥

This makes me so happy to see! GingerScraps has always been my "home." I just love the people in this wonderful GS community.

You are one the familiar names to me. Thanks for replying to my post! :)
Tried to delete this so I could repost, but it wouldn't delete. Meant this for "msbrad". :P

I"m glad you are here as well and have been here all these years. I was uprooted years ago when ScrapMatters closed. GS has become my home! <3 But you are right, it's hard to find a community after you've invested so much time and energy in to one. I promise you, GS is worth the investment. It's truly the best place, with the best challenges, designers and community members!! <3

I agree with Wendy and others above regarding the feeling of loss when a beloved site closes...about two and a half years ago, my only digi home closed, it really left me struggling in a space where I had never been before. The site was taken over by another company, stood alone under that banner for a little while but eventually disintegrated under the new regime. I had been there exclusively for probably 10 years!! I grieved for a year and a half totally giving up scrapping during that time, then at the beginning of this year I came out of my funk and started looking for a new home and here, after a lot of looking, I found it . I am still finding things that are done differently and I have made many mistakes and learnt from them but I hope to be still here for the long term. Long Live GS!

Oh now I'm curious....where did you come from? Ten years is a long time and I don't know many of them that have been opened that long! The only one that I know that was opened for a very long time, taken over and then closed its doors was RAKscraps. I'm very curious. Where was your home prior to GS?

I took a 3 year scrapping hiatus when my old digi home closed! I felt like a friend died! I hope you find a new digi home here!

I would never have believed that I would experience a grief like I had after the closing of a digi home!!! Seems there are a few who have been in the same boat!

Wendy, I was at Digital scrapbook Place. Not sure exactly what date I started there but I know I was there in 2005..I have a copy of a post I made dated April 2005 and I think I joined in the August before that. My Memories company bought out the site and a few months thereafter closed it down.

I started out at Scrapbook-Bytes when I first got into digiscrapping and loved it there. Eventually got overwhelmed and took about 3 years off from scrapping altogether when the boys were younger, and when I came back I ended up here as part of Aprilisa's CT. I absolutely love it here and am so thankful to have this wonderful site!

Thank you Ginger and everyone behind the scenes who keep this site going! <3

I was involved at another (smaller) store but hadn't been there long when it closed. I roamed around at other sites, but have made my home here. We have such a great group of ladies here!

This is for sure my HOME! I love it and all the people here - I'm hit or miss lately - 4 kids keeps me pretty busy - and we did a ton o ftraveling this summer - but its good to be "back" and get into a routine of checking in once in a while :D

I enjoyed reading the posts in this thread. I joined up here some years ago and have been back once before and now here again to a certain extent.
The very first digital site I ever joined was an Australian one - Nuts 4 Digi and when it closed I did feel a little lost. I still have never really found a site I call "home", even though I am fairly involved in a site that celebrates its 11th Birthday soon.
I think it is the Aussie comradeship I miss with being an Aussie. I had even met in person one of the members from that first site and we exchanged quite a few visits with each other over the years.

Hi Anne Marie, I'm an Aussie

.....

I met up with several other Aussies from my previous site too, along with a few overseas ones as well. I don't know how many Aussies we have here. I "know" Elizabeth who is also an Aussie.

..and as the thread's name is "kudos to this site", I would like to say thank you to GS for the birthday gift:kisses!!

So glad you are enjoying being here with this amazing group of ladies! I don't talk very often here but I love working with each and everyone of all the fantastic designers and all the CT. It's an amazing place to be! <3

Aww, this thread just gives me all the scrappy feels! This was my very first digi-site. I used to be a ******** paper scrapper but life got busy as the kids got older. Then I started digi-scrapping and was hooked!

I started at Gingerscraps during the Christmas in July event and in 2012. This was my first and only digi home....

LOVE, LOVE Gingerscraps!!! Such a welcoming and friendly community...from the forums and especially the gallery. This is the only place where layouts consistently receive heartfelt and thoughtful comments.

Thank you Sugar Cookies, Designers, CT, Admin, and our amazing leading lady.. GINGER! xoxo...

I love this site and I don't think I really know a soul here! LOL I do 10 challenges every month and sometimes that's a challenge in itself and I daresay there's no time to chatter. I will also say that I get the collab from doing the 10 challenges every month and I have never actually used any of the collabs yet. Ha! (note to those in charge make a challenge to use last months collab reward for doing the 10 challenges) I love the Bakesale and literally go through it page by page and then cart what I want then I have the tedious task of checking my supplies to make sure I don't have them already. I also want to say to the Gingerscraps Praise Team : LOVE YOU GUYS! It's such a great thing you do and darn you guys can come up with some creative comments which is very hard. Anyways I am rambling and I can't really remember what I mean to say in the first place!
