Is your scrapping affected by Olympics?

Sugar Cookie : GingerScraps Praise
Have you been inspired to scrap because of the Olympics?
Have your scrapping hours been cut back because you are watching the Olympics?
Have you bought any kits that could be used for the Olympics?
Do you know anyone (first, second, third hand :) ) who is an Olympian?

I am getting a little scrapping done because I am sick rather than because the Olympics are on. My husband prefers my attention to be 100% on the television, but he is a pretty darn perfect husband and does not insist or even make me feel bad that I would rather scrap than watch.

I may have watched the skating with 100% attention, but had taking some Nyquil and fell fast asleep, dang. I am sure we can watch it online, but have not made the effort to look.

I have to admit, I am not a big Olympics watcher, but coincidentally, the page I am working on (one of the last for my Italy album!) is a wonderful lunch we had out with our host where we met his father, Carmel has world records in discus, shot put and hammer and pentathlon. We so enjoyed seeing his trophies & photos from his Olympic times!

WOW, that is special and very worthy of a scrapbook page.

I LOVE watching sports on TV. Any sport except basketball. I do watch the Olympics, but I am not glued to the TV while it is on. I watch and crochet. DH is watching too.

I attended the 1976 summer Olympics that were held in Montreal, Canada. A [former] college roommate and I went. We booked our tickets thru Track and Field tours. We also took 2 college credit courses that worked toward my teaching renewal for my certificate. Bruce Jenner was one of the instructors for one of the courses.

I've also met several Olympic gymnasts over time. That is because I coached, choreographed and judged competitive gymnastics for years. The highest meet I judged was SEC regionals. One Olympian from Canada was Elfi Schlegel During the 1976 games, she was only 12. She came to a gymnastic camp in Florida that winter [I was coaching]. I caught her mid air when she missed a front aerial. She went on to attend the Univ. of Florida. I judged her there. Now a commentator for NBC.
Also met Murial and Abie Grossfeld.

The photos I have from Montreal are rather sad looking. I've tried to restore best I can but I only had a little point and shoot camera.
I scrapped a page.

I remember commenting on this because I thought it was so awesome - totally awesome! What a fabulous story.

We LOVE olympics and sports, usually we programed our "holiday week" according to these kind of events, so the hubby and me we are in our "holiday week" just watching the olympics, and when I sleep or jump to the tub, and he's watching and updates to me, lol. Past days we absolutely forgot all the Valentines and we spent the whole day watching the olympics and yelling to our team like they could be able to hear us, lol, good luck our neighbors are same kind of "sports mads" like us, lol. So hardly I'm scrapping, and we are using disposable plates and cups, I cooked before hand, so the freezer is full of food that we only put into the microwave.

Grace, it sounds like a holiday! What fun! Cooking ahead of time shows how serious this is for you. I have been watching, but not as much as I like. My grandson needs some TLC right now, so whatever he wants to watch, we are watching as buddies.

I love to follow the Olympics but don't really have the time so I PVR'd the events that I am interested in and watch them while I walk on the treadmill and listen (occasionally stop to watch) while I clean house, make dinner etc. I haven't done a page yet but plan to.

Clean house? Walk on the treadmill? What kind of scrapper are you !! (Just kidding! that is impressive! I think about walking on a treadmill, does that count?)

Well what can I say...I am a hyper one.:36_1_33:Thinking leads to doing so keep on thinking!

Mine hasn't been by the olympics, mine is by school work, regular work, and rehab for my knee replacement. I signed up for the Survivor challenge though, so hopefully that helps get me back on track.

Well, whether it is the treadmill or the school work, what is with all the stuff getting in the way of scrapping :) We are ARTISTS!

Oh Grace, I think we are "sisters from another mother" :) I too, am glued to the TV pretty much all day long! Skating is my absolute favorite, but I'm even trying to figure out curling. I'm NOT nearly as organized with the cooking however. Sometimes I remember to take something out of the freezer for supper and sometimes I don't LOL My husband isn't quite the fan I am, but he's being a "good sport" and watching as well because he knows I enjoy it, He doesn't even complain about how often we've been having popcorn for supper hehe

love watching figure skating so watching it all - takes a long time so yes its been effected

I love figure skating too...was wonderful to see Canada's Virtue and Moir win the gold and break a record in the Ice Dancing!

I grew up with Kurt Browning so figure skating used to be a huge hit for me, but crooked judging really soured it for me. This is the first year I've tuned back in, and it's rumoured again.

I really enjoy watching curling.

I think they will continue to improve the judging. I know that there is discussion as to why trying to complete a quad, but failing, should count way more than a perfectly executed triple. Even with bad judging, the skill and grace just astounds me. The difference in skating from when I was little to now is unbelievable.

I remember all the old skaters, Sonja Henie, **** Button....

It was, they were amazing. I am constantly astounded at the variety of programs the figure skaters come up with. I love watching them all - but this was particularly spectacular.

I usually watch the Olympics in the evenings with the dh --but not so much this year
I think there are more events during the summer Olympics that I like to watch, and I'm so over the snow that I haven't wanted to be reminded of the cold by watching all the outdoor events
I keep meaning to try scrapping some pages of current events, but I haven't gotten there yet.

I am sure you will get around to scrapping soon. Your scrapping is too beautiful, too touching to hold off from for too long. Big Hug and keep working!

LOL - yes, but not in a good way. For some reason, I'm not in to it them at ALL - and it's distracting me when I'm scrapping. Everytime hubby left the room, I turned it off!

They can be a pain - those hubbies! Mine keeps asking me to feed him when I am scrapping. Hello, hubby, kitchen that a-way!! (He is seriously not too bad, but he does feel neglected from time to time!)
