If you could afford it...!

Re: If you could afford it...

Heck no - that long in a confined space like that would drive me absolutely batty! :36_11_17:
I always loved studying space but to travel there, just no.

Re: If you could afford it...

Oh yes! When I was much younger I wanted to be an astronaut. Met Roberta Bondar (Canada's first female astronaut) at an International Girl Guide camp, and she was my hero! Originally went into aerospace engineering at university so I could be involved in the space industry, since I wasn't going to make it as an astronaut. But then in my second year of engineering I fell off a horse, fractured a vertebrae in my back, and had a long rehab. During my long recovery I became more interested in the health fields, and switched my major to nutrition & dietetics!

Re: If you could afford it...

I have actually never thought about this ever! After a teeny-tiny bit of thought, I would have to say, yes! However, I'd like it to be family vacation to outer space with my husband and kids! :)

What about you, Stephanie?

Re: If you could afford it...

YES!!!!!! But like Colleen, I'd like to bring my family. The bummer thing about space travel is, if you go to say Mars, you're kind of stuck there because it takes so long (with today's technology) But I would TOTALLY take a short trip, like orbiting the earth. Imagine the photos!!!

Re: If you could afford it...

I would so go in a heartbeat!!! When we first watched Wall E, my DH and I both said it would be cool to live like that on a huge ship but not in the circumstances that the movie portrayed.

I could totally live like Star Trek Next Generation. They had everything and even food replicators!! I'd go on "vacation" on the holodeck lol!

This I could do - something very short (in relative terms), but being stuck in a tin can for months and months with others (even family) is not my idea of a dream vacation :hysterical:

Re: If you could afford it...

I don't know, I would be very afraid. I'm claustrophobic and I would feel stuck, even if it was a gigantic space station. I'd be too scared, lol.

I would rather go in the opposite direction, in a totally safe, state of the art submersible, one where you don't even think about all the water above you, capable of diving deeeeep and capable of lighting up an area for miles around so I could see what treasures the bottom of the sea has to share:)

I'm going to say no. Tower of Terror is a no fun ride for me and I hate the whole launching feeling so I think I will just stay right here on earth with my feet closer to the ground. Also, there doesn't seem like there would be a whole lot to see out there so probably not. There's so much in this world I need to see, I can forgo space.

What if you had no choice and the Earth was destroyed environmentally to the point you couldn't sustain life on it? Would you go live on a space station then?
