I think my Mac just died....

I just wanna cry. During a system update on my Mac we had a power break and now I think it broke it... I can hear it start but all I get is a black screen. I tried different tricks I found online but nothing will work.
Hopefully I can find someone who can fix it so it at least will work.
But what if all my layouts are lost now.....

Oh no! (((HUGS))) I hope you can recover everything somehow- take it to a professional if you can.

Thank you for your kind words! I left it to a technician today - keeping my fingers crossed that they can fix it and that everything will still be saved!
 
I had something similar happened to me in February, I plugged my laptop in and it just died, the screen when black and just nothing. It was so weird! I took it into the Apple Store and they said it was fried, the cost of replacing the motherboard was $900 and it was an 8 year old MacBook Pro... so I decided it was not worth repairing and I got a new one. I was soooo bummed!
Thankfully the iCloud is a life saver, so I didn't lose anything. Once I got the new one all set up and all my programs installed and set up, I felt a lot better.
Now I LOVE my new MacBook Pro. It is way quicker and the keys are nicer and I have a MUCH bigger hard drive. So there was a silver lining.

I hope yours is fixable, fingers crossed!!
 
So I got the verdict - it's fried!!!
Now I need to get a new computer....
