I have a Question

I have a question and it may be a dumb one. Anyway, when I download templates there are usually .pngs, jpegs, tifs, page, psd. If I use the psd ones is there any reason to keep any of the others? I've been keeping the pngs, but if there isn't a need then I won't, thanks.

hi there :). if you use PSD, you will not need the PNGs for sure.. if I purchase some templates, I usually only keep the TIFFs.

I only keep the PSD b/c it has all the layers so if I need to isolate and only use some of the template, I can do that.

I have heard that the Tiff file size is smaller than PSD and is also a layered template so I have switched to Tiff. If the templates happen to have grunge bits- scribbles, smears and blending masks I will go through the PNG files and keep all the artsy bits and get rid of the other pieces. I usually keep the artsy PNGs in the same folder as the templates so I am able to credit the designer if I happen to use them. Not all designers label their PNGs with designer/ template series names.

Nope, I only keep what I need.

Generally, if saved correctly .tiff files will be smaller than .psd files, taking up less space on my hard drive. So I delete everything but the tiff file, the preview and the tou.

The designers just offer all those options for the various types of graphics programs.

For me, I always delete the page, jpg and extra preview in a template pack. Even though I always use the tiff, I still want to save the png and the psd files. I back everything up on my external hard driver.

I save just the tiffs and the jpg of all the templates in the set for a preview of the entire set. If there are no tiffs I have an action that converts psd files to tiff files. I need the space.
