How's everyone doing with their Scrap-A-Thon layouts?

Greetings and Happy Pi Day! How are you doing with your Scrap-A-Thon layouts? Did you set a goal at the beginning of the month? Are you on track for reaching that goal? Have you tried any of the challenges that you normally don't try? Inquiring minds want to know! :)

I am on track, counting for the days I was on vacation. My goal is 20 layouts and 60+ comments. I am definitely trying challenges that aren't my usual. :)

Ane, that's an awesome goal! Good luck!
Ha, Lynnie... I understand. And I know you've had your hands full with other things right now. There's still plenty of time to play.

I am feeling great about my progress! :) I always do 10 challenges every month so I can get the free kit and often don't finish them up until near the end of the month, but I told myself this month I would do 20 layouts and have already shared 15 of them and have 3 nearly done so I am getting there. I was concerned when I saw so many challenges related to the theme of friendship because I didn't think I had very many photos of friends, but I had more than I realized once I started looking through things and some challenges I got a little creative with. ;)

That's awesome! I agree... I was a little concerned about so many friendship themed layouts, but you're right... once I got started, there's a lot of different takes on the theme you can do. :) Congrats on getting so many layouts completed!

I have about 12 done! I am really enjoying the friend theme and trying to get it all figured out! I have been leaving tons of comments. That's my favorite! I think I am already over 50! It's been fun to see how everyone interprets a challenge or uses the same kit etc!

After a long hiatus (several years) I browsed the gallery and slowly the itch has returned. I jumped in on the challenges/Thon.
I've done 10 challenges so far and maybe 60 gallery comments. Also, I have 3 half-done challenges.

Tonight we're having a "ostekveld" (Norwegian) direct translation "cheese night". Its a spread with lots of different cheeses, crackers, grapes... I don't know the English term for it. Cutcherie? Or maybe the word I'm thinking of is French?

Hopefully I'll get some good photos.

Because I was leaving on the 14th to go visit my daughter and her family, I got almost everything done before leaving. I made a goal to do all challenges and have 35 completed. I cannot do the other two until the week of the weekly challenges starting on Sunday. I had a goal to do 300 comments but only have done 150 and that is okay. I love challenges. The friendship ones were hard but I came up with solutions that I hope worked.

WOW!! You rock!!

YES! I also enjoy looking through the challenge layouts and seeing the different ways people accomplish the goals of the challenge. Even though some may be stretching it a bit ;) it helps me think outside of the box.

My goal is 20 pages and 50+ comments. I have 13 done and almost 50 comments, so I'm almost there. I also was worried about the friends theme but same as everyone else, with some creative and out of the box thinking, I'll get them done.

By mid month I wanted to be half way and I am at 18, but what I consider the toughest ones are left. I am getting run out of ideas. The friend well is running dry. LOL.

That is remarkable Katerine, I have such a hard time with comments, the words just will not come for me, I think I have two done so far. Not even enough for the CT team requirements. BTW I am welcome to you commenting on layouts in my gallery going back a month that have no comments at all. I think people are tired of me, I typically never have no comments, but noticed since Febraury I don't. Oh Well, picking up my game.

I certainly don't believe people are tired of you Sherri, your LOs are always gorgeous and interesting. I do get you re comments, though. I love getting them, the more the better, and it is disappointing to not get any. It is also validating to hear that you look out for comments...as a cookie I often wonder if people actually come back and read them. Just a heads up...try separating your uploads. Rather than uploading a whole heap at once where they appear in the gallery side by side, try allowing a bit of space between your uploads.

I feel this... I am not great at making comments on layouts and I am also an admin at a FB scrapbook related group where I feel like I should be making more comments but I look at the lovely layouts and on FB I can "like" or "love" them but often don't know exactly what to say as I don't always just want to say "pretty layout" so when I do take the time to comment it is work for me because I want to try to make it something truly about the layout and not just a generic comment.
I always look back at my layouts to see if I get any comments but I wish there was a way to react to the comments that we get so the ones leaving them would know that we acknowledge them and sometimes I'd even like to respond to a comment but there is no way to do that within the gallery either. I appreciate any comments I may get and there aren't a lot of them but at least I can see that my layout are being looked out by the number of views and at least that is something. There is another site where I share and I never to rarely get any comments there so I think the ladies here do great at it.

I feel this...

I agree with wanting to reply to an especially kind comment. Sometimes I’ll pop over to their gallery and leave a comment on a few of their pages, and also thank them for the kind words. I have also private messaged someone who’s comment really made my day!

PS I’ve finished 10 challenges which doesn’t seem like much but is actually a record for me!! I’m feeling very accomplished! ;)

thank you for those sweet words, and the advice is most welcome. I do read and appreciate all comments, and frequently my girl reads them too.

even your like it and love it are appreciated by me.

Loving this discussion and I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one that struggles sometimes about finding meaningful ways to comment on others’ pages. Jill, I am always inspired by your comments. They are so thoughtful and make me grin. You motivate me to leave more than just a “nice page” on others’ layouts!

Sherri, please don’t think we are ever tired of you. Your layouts are great and I always look forward to seeing them. Please keep them coming!!!

Okay, I’m now motivated to go leave some love in the gallery! :)

I uploaded my 20th challenge layout this morning and that is huge for me as I am pretty sure I have never done more than 10 of the challenges. I am very happy with my progress and that is probably the last one that I will do for the month as some of the others are challenges that I am not as interested in trying to complete and it is time for me to focus on other projects for the rest of the month.

I set my goal for 20 so that I could get both of the kits. I am now at 18 with 2 more to go.

When I am able to comment on layouts in the gallery, I always try to find something that I like about the layout or have in common with the layout and focus on that in my comments. I do not like leaving a "Nice Layout" comment. When I get a comment like that, I feel like the person didn't really look at my layout and I don't want anyone to get that idea with comments that I leave.

Sherri, you should not have any layouts that do not have at least one comment on them. Zero comments are a big no-no around here. However, I do see some in your gallery and I will personally take care of that problem today.

Edit: Done!

Jill, I always come back and read the comments that are left on my layouts. I just wish there was a way to acknowledge that it was seen and read...a like button or a heart or something.

BTW - I really, really miss being on the Cookie Platter!

I just spent a while looking for where I could comment. I have totally LOVED the March theme and challenges! I'd have loved to have done 31 pages, but I had the busiest start of the month setting up a new program and rostering people, etc. SO, I only discovered the whole Scrap-a-thon on Monday night at 9:30 pm. I've very excited to say that I got 21 pages scrapped and 70 comments posted in just 4 days! Rewards are so motivating for me! (I've also been sick in bed two of the days, so that helped.)
I personally loved the Friendship theme. I could've kept going. But it helps to be older, we know more people! :)

Anyway, I totally loved the whole Scrap-a-Thon idea! Now, I need to get the work done that I've put off all week as I scrapped nearly non-stop since Tues! Ha ha! :D

I am happy to have been able to do 21 layouts. It's been so nice to see so many layouts and many have been giving me ideas for future layouts. I loved the Scrap-o-thon and I wished there could be more (hahaha) but I will be waiting for next year for sure.
