How often do you scrap pages you don't post?

Sugar Cookie : GingerScraps Praise
I was thinking the other day about scrapping some pages and I had a revelation that I don't really have to post all the pages I scrap. Then I started thinking about why I post them and why I only scrap pages that I post here.

First of all, I love to get comments, it makes me so happy to get comments on my pages.

Secondly, I enjoy sharing bits of my life with my online friends.

Lastly, I like to help promote GS products.

I have tons of kits that are not GS kits - stuff from my former site that closed (Digital Scrapbook Place), stuff from former GS designers who have moved on, and stuff from old DSP designers (Meryl Bartho and Elizabeth Weaver, for example)who have both popped in here from time to time) and stuff I bought before I settled here at GingerScraps. I don't like to post with stuff from other sites, so I end up not using a lot of the stuff I own, but I love. I know Ginger doesn't mind when we post other stuff, she even has a gallery for it, but it still feels funny.

I love GS products, so I always have plenty to scrap with here. But it was a revelation today when I realized I coud actually scrap from time to time with all my extra stuff and NOT post them haha.

What a great question, Lynnie. Like you, I don't post pages that use products not currently available on this site. But sometimes I scrap pages with photos of others who are very private people and would be horrified to know their photos were posted online. Occassionally, I scrap something very personal that I simply want to keep private.

But other than that, the vast majority of my pages are posted here. And, like you, those comments on my pages sure brighten my day! <3

CT pages keep me busy but it's fun to create just for yourself, whether you post them online or not. To be able to mix/match products from any kit, regardless of the store or designer is fun. I don't get to do it often but when I do I enjoy it. Sometimes I open up some old kits and use bits and pieces with some newer stuff.

I very rarely post a page unless it is for a challenge....probably more that it was I started when I joined GS. Very timely question. I was just thinking if I spent as much time on doing specific pages I wanted to do (like pages from our 72 day cruise) as I do on challenges I would be done with an album. I need to personally just set a challenge to do a certain amount of pages on my own, because I know I scrap different if it is for a challenge then if it is for 'me,' especially the journaling.

There are a few pages I've scrapped that I haven't posted anywhere. Like Deb, I mostly do the challenges, but occasionally I'll post more than that, simply because I used GS products. Then there's my CT work- I try to dovetail those layouts with the challenges when I can. It makes life easier! :)

Everything I scrap is posted here except for an occasional ecard I might make for someone, I am challenge driven and usually try to make any photo I want to scrap fit into a challenge. Like Lynnie, I love love getting comments. I don't print anymore except for little great grandson Harley's pages which I make into a book for each year of his life...he is 2yrs 10mths old today...have no idea where that time went. I am not on any CT's by choice and don't participate at any other site, so what you see is what you get basically:)

Happy Monday and April to you all!

DITTO from Lynnie's post above:

I seem to mostly be posting what is required of me for CT work [it takes up a lot of my time], or just some pages for the challenges. I've also noticed over the past year or so, gallery comments are really down. I'm sure there are a b'zillion different reasons, just my observation.

What I "NEED" to do...is scrap to get books done and printed regardless of what I am using on the pages.

I rarely post any scrapped items on my personal FB anymore.

We had a lovely Easter Sunday. I hope everyone did as well.

PS- my pineapple plant started to pop out its first pineappe!!!!

Oh I have so many thoughts on this!

Throughout my years of scrapping I've probably shared 99% of everything I've made. (Kind of a scary thought actually!) Mostly because I'm on CT's and I like getting comments. The GS Cookies have spoiled me with all their love! Really though, when life and the world seem so negative sometimes it just gives you a mental boost to see that someone appreciates something you've made.

On the other hand, I have several people in my life that don't want have their faces or stories on the internet and I absolutely respect that. Butttttt that leaves some big gaping holes in our family story.

It's interesting that Jill brought up printing. Since I've been printing my pages as I make them the past couple of years, I've been tempted to make more pages that I don't share online. Not sure what the connection is, maybe the instant gratification of printing would take the place of the happy feeling I get from comments?

I've done challenges since I first started scrapping, so between those and CT work, I'm not even sure how I would scrap if I were just doing it on my own. Deadlines really motivate me. Both of those require sharing so that's just what I've always done.

I could go around and around about this for years.

Wouldnt it be lovely if members other than cookies posted regular comments in the gallery, that would be soooo nice!!! Congrats on the baby pineappple michi:)

Good question. I have made very few layouts that were not shared on the Internet. I have been on CTs for quite a long time so I am usually helping to advertise a designer's product. I don't post everything I do here at Gingerscraps because I do challenges at other sites that don't require posting everywhere. I love digital scrapbooking and I love the challenges that help me stay focused. Sometimes I have a hard time coming up with an idea on my own and it is helpful to apply the challenges.

Great question. I don't think I have ever not posted a layout. I love the sharing aspect of scrap booking. But if you mean posting here at GS? I honestly haven't found the time to scrap my own layouts since being guest designer here. But I am hoping that once I get used to everything, and speed up a bit, that I will get the time to share my own pages here.

I’m going to interpret scrap and post very loosely.

I tend to post 99% of what I do on my IG/FB/Pinterest page. I tend to only share only on the relevant galleries.
I tend to scrap from various perspectives-art journaling, hybrid, traditional to artsy. Just really depends on which voice is screaming the loudest in my head.

now my hybrid projects while I share them, they tend to be more targeted as I plan those to conserve ink, etc and those go in actual albums that have as well.

I post almost all of my pages and most of them are shared here, on Instagram and the FB group where I am an admin.
I am super motivated by challenges so much of what I create is for the challenges here but I do have pages that use other designers' products that I will still post here as well since that is also allowed.
The only ones I don't share here very often are my pocket style monthly recap pages, in part because it is a 4 page spread and I don't like to "clog" up the gallery by posting 4 pages as a time, they are pocket style which seems to be not very popular here so not sure anyone would really have any interest in seeing them and in part because I just don't want to bother with it! LOL!
I do share those on my FB group since many there still are very pocket page focused since some still use the Project Life app.

I haven't post here (gallery) yet, but on Scrapgirls I only posted 5% of my stuff. I would create for challenges but most of my layouts were for personal use and never posted online. I do create books every four months so I have three per year of my personal scrapping showing my life with all the family who aren't allowed to be posted online.
