How do you mark photographs as already used

I have a serious problem reusing pictures. Does anyone else have that problem. Do you ever marked them as 'used' so you don't accidentally reuse them.

I do reuse photos sometimes by accident and sometimes on purpose. Reuse depends on topic. One picture could be part of a series that I wanted to scrap and that same picture might be "the many sides of" type of layout. Sometimes family photo shoots gets lots of layouts with them because they show us in poses where most of my photos are action shots.
Hope that makes sense.

Nope, I reuse photos all the time - especially if they are some of my favorites. The act of “scrapbooking” is my relaxing activity and stress relief so it doesn’t bother me if I reuse photos. If I am working on album pages that will all be printed and put in a physical album, then it won’t have repeats in it.

Like Lilly Anne, I do scrap some photos more than once, for different topics or stories. Especially when I am doing PL, I'll use a photo there with a snippet of journaling and I'll scrap it again with more detail or a different angle to the story in a regular LO.

I store all the LO's I make on my hard drive in date order, like 2020-09-01Jamie. So it's really easy for me to go back and look at my LO's to see if I've scrapped a photo before. I'm just in the habit of looking at previous LO's before I even start a page. I'm more worried about using the same journaling twice than photos actually, that's why I started doing that. I found myself telling the same story more than once a couple of times, which was so annoying!

I actually do like doing kind of "update" LO's that use photos I've already scrapped, like on anniversaries I'll use a wedding photo, or if something significant happened and I want to revisit old photos. I'm going to make a LO about the fire at Notre Dame and talk about how glad we are that we got to visit before that happened, and I'll probably use a mix of photos for that. I like scrapping the same photo from different perspectives.

I do sometimes for the same reasons already mentioned. I will often reuse a photo is I am making multiple books, say as in a book for my granddaughter will be different than the one in my family album.

At the end of the month, I go through my photos and write down what I want to scrap in a notebook. I check things off as I scrap them.

You have some really good ideas on checking for pictures :) I am okay reusing, but I wouldn't be good journaling on a picture and telling the story a different way with a few different details...

Which happens as I get older....

I usually move the used images to another folder on my computer, so that later, if necessary, I specially take from there, and not use it accidentally.

As most of my scrapping is travel blogging, apart from some CT work, I usually have

Folder: Destination + Year
- Folder City
-- All the A00* pages, which are ready for publication
-- All the B00* pages, which are for private use only (because they have faces I promised not to post online)
-- Current.psd the current 10 or so pages, with all pictures divided internally into folders for planned-out pages
-- Temp*.psd extended planning files, each with 10 or so pages, with all pictures divided internally into sectioning folders so I know more or less how many total pages the finished book will be
-- Folder Used, where I move all pictures which have already been slated into Current or Temp* files
-- Any raw pictures not yet slated

I don't worry about re-using pictures. I've gotten out of the habit of taking regular pictures (good god, 2020 has SUCKED), so I'm short pictures. And when I do take pictures, I'm taking like 20 of the same subject, because I like playing with my phone's camera (the Note 20 is AMAZING!)

:D

I find myself using the same pictures over and over and I have over 1/2 million pictures. Drives me crazy :)
