Hi, I'm Jeni! I currently live in Texas (for the past three years) with my husband, 19 year-old son, 5 cats (2 were born under our porch, 2 others were born to a feral cat that was hanging around the house when we got here), and 100-lb dog. I also have a 22 year-old daughter living in Florida.
The "all-too" part in my title is due to the fact that I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis about a year ago, after we moved here. The heat and the bright keep me indoors for the better part of the year because of extreme heat intolerance and damage to the optical nerve (we believe, not exactly sure yet) due to MS. Due to my (many) issues we will be moving to either Portland, OR or Seattle, WA in the next year or so. I cannot wait to be able to go outside again!!
Along those lines, I don't post much anywhere (including my own blogs) because my writing has really gone downhill. It takes me a while to get my thoughts out coherently and I couldn't live without spell-check. I hate that it takes me so long, so I tend to get frustrated and give up. However, at my MS team's insistence (and with my husband prodding me :biggrin
I have been trying really hard to get past my frustration. So, here I am
The nick CraftyQueen is the latest (and last) in a long line of online handles. I've had a love/hate relationship with the online world since my first "blog" - a journal cobbled together from code for a guestbook (anyone remember guestbooks?), long before blogs became a "thing". I've also always been extremely crafty, getting involved in one project or another and learning new techniques for various artsy-craftsy things. Give that, I'm rather surprised at myself for never having used the nick before. Sort-of a duh moment :laughhard:
This love of all things colorful and crafty, along with the love of computers, brought me to the world of creating digital graphics. This, of course, is what brought me to digital scrapbooking. I've never done the paper bit, I just felt more comfortable creating digital art. I make plenty of other tangible pretties
I actually started digiscrapping back in 2004 or so, but stopped due to computer issues and various other interruptions in life. It's rather surprising how much has changed since then!! I'm seeing all kinds of new terms and different ways of doing things. It's like starting all over again! Which, actually, I had to do with my collection of kits and such after the external drive I had everything stored on died. I was so upset that I started downloading like a madwoman...and now have over 100 gb worth of just digiscrap stuff
Ok, done with the book now. I tend to get wordy when I'm up late, and this has taken me nearly an hour to write
Off to bed!
