Have you ever lost photos?

My biggest fear is losing pictures! It was still the era of film cameras when my daughter started pre-school in 1994. I can still see her standing there with her little lunch pail and back pack...but the memory is all I have because hubby opened the back of the camera (REALLY??!! :() and exposed the film.

My P&S had been on the blink for some time & that same my precious "little" girl insisted that we use her iphone for photos. Great idea...except getting said photos from her proved to be impossible :( She just got a new iphone and in the process, somehow, all of her photos were lost. Including Christmas, my birthday in January & youngest son's birthday in February :( I've told the family we are going to re-create the 2 birthdays, but I'll have to scrounge to get Christmas photos from the rest of the family!

Have you ever lost photos?

Yes, when the cat killed my external I lost all sorts of pictures and scrappy stuffs. :( It is painful, but always remember that they are just pictures and therefore just things. No one can ever take away those memories!

I'm super anal because I have lost things. I'm not worried about losing layouts, but I'm TERRIFIED of losing pictures. I have them backed up on an HD, but I also have them auto-uploading to Flickr. When they start releasing the 300gig DVDs, I'll be backing up multiple times to them as well.

Oh, I lost a bunch one time due to my own stupidity! I was so upset and angry....I spent a lot of that afternoon in tears. Thankfully I was able to get quite a few back, but that is one of the worst feelings when you realize they are gone!

yes- me too..
accd- to DH - there is data you have and data you have not lost.......yet.

back it up! in more than one way.

I lost a couple years worth of pictures....most of my son's baby pictures, holiday pictures, birthday. We took our computer to be "fixed" by some IT guy and he gave it back missing half my pictures. He claimed they were corrupt, but I never had a problem with my pictures folder. I also lost some scrap stuff thanks to him, but I still have the computer and I hope to someday try to recover them. Hopefully they are still on the hard drive...I just don't know how to get to them. It was devastating.

Yes and I cried. iPhoto crashed and it still has never been the same since:( Back up Back up Back up!!

I just had to pop back & give some amazing news!! Some of the photos I thought were gone have been found! :yell One night I was messing with my daughter's phone & uploaded a batch of photos to Box... tonight I was clearing out emails & found one from Box, so I went and checked it out... The photos of my youngest son's 13th birthday were there! Thank heavens! I'm so thrilled!!

Yep, twice. Once I lost my entire hard drive. I tried to recover the lost data with some special software, but half the images were in thumbnail size. And the second time my little guy decided to wipe out all the images on my phone!

Yes!!! I had just started digi-scrapping and had a new EHD. I didn't know I had to actually power down the computer and not just unplug the thing...it ended up dying, pooper!!! I had all the new digi stuff, party designs (I make invites and party decorations) and photos... at least 4 months of photos!!

I was just thinking about this recently that I really need to back up everything. I even started uploading to Shutterfly again. I think I'm going to be more pro-active with Shutterfly again.

Good thing you were able to recover some of the pictures!!!

YES! So glad you were able to recover some of your photos! I lost over 60 (I'm thinking closer to 100) LOs, and about 4 months worth of photos, including one that I won a photo contest with! luckily I had printed one 8x10 of it, so I was able to take a picture of it to have a back-up of it, but the rest that I took that day, and all the others, its awful :( I know have my photos in 3 different places, hoping I never go through that again!!

My friend and I did a big newborn photoshoot for my youngest, Sarah, when she was just two weeks old. My friend had just bought a really good, expensive camera so she took all the pics. Well, something went wonky with that new camera and all the pictures were lost, except for two. I feel so annoyed and sad when I think about the photos that I could have had, but in the grand scheme of things its not all that tragic. I have all the important photos from her birth and all the milestones along the way. But they would have been nice to have.

I use an EHD to keep everything... photos and scrapbook stuff, and I backup with BackBlaze, which runs continually in the background. I learned several years ago not to trust the EHD alone. I had one that got dropped and that was it. Luckily I had just transferred everything over to a new hard drive just a week before, so nothing was lost. Thankfully!
