...ever heard of Cryptogenic Organising Pneumonia? My husband has just been diagnosed with it and has started on a lengthy treatment regime of steroid medication. Have you had it? Do you know anyone who has had it? What do you know about it? It has taken over three months to reach this diagnosis after many courses of antibiotic treatment for what appeared to be "ordinary" pneumonia. The medication had no effect and the condition worsened. Our anxiety levels were through the roof as he had metastatic melanoma in the lymph nodes three years ago and we (and the Drs) expected that it was a spread of the disease. We recently returned from a big hospital 4 hours away from our town where he had a very painful lung biopsy, lung drainage and a pleurodesis procedure, the result of which was the above diagnosis. Here's hoping the medication will take care of the problem without causing other problems that might occur with the immune system being suppressed by the steroids.
