Halloween plans?

For those of you who celebrate Halloween, how are you planning to celebrate this year?

Since we are empty nesters, we typcially hand out candy to the kids who come to our door. Before the pandemic, we'd have more than 500 students in a night. Last year, we didn't feel that handing out candy was a good idea. But this year, I'd like to return to our traditions. I've purchased a ton of candy yesterday and I've promised myself that I will NOT eat any of it! LOL!

What do you do to celebrate? Are you planning to hand out candy this year? Do you dress up in costumes or host/attend Halloween parties?

When we had younger kids at home, we'd go to local trunk or treats. Now we hand out candy, even though we don't get many kids. Sometimes my youngest does it (if they're not out), sometimes I do it. I like to decorate the porch up a bit, but that's it.

We usually go my cousin's as her daughter still goes trick or treating. We have something like chili and hang out. Sometimes the grown-ups dress up too.

This year we've rented a condo and will be checking out Halloween day. So, we may do something Halloween-y the night before we leave. I'll be going to a Oktoberfest dog festival on Halloween.

Saturday I have a promotional test at 9am. We have a wedding that night in Pennsylvania about a 2 hour drive. So after the test, we'll be hitting the road. It is also my daughter's 20th birthday! She's not happy about not being with her friends on her birthday but she is planning something for Friday night. We will be staying the night at a hotel in PA and heading home in the morning.
My kids are dressing as prince frog and princess frog. They still love trick or treating even at their age. Hey, I'd rather that than them being at parties honestly. I'm dressing as a Disney traveler for work for a parade on Friday. My husband and I will give out candy. Than our tradition is to go out to dinner in our customs.
Stay safe and check all the candy before you eat it!
The candy buckets are already strategically placed at work and have been full of candy for a few weeks already.

That sounds so much fun. But tell me, what is an Oktoberfest Dog Festival???

I love that the kids still enjoy dressing up! My husband is the only one with a costume this year (Steampunk hat and coat paired with Thanos' gauntlet (from the Marvel movies). He loves to hand out candy to the kids with the toy glove! Ha!

They call it BARKtoberfest. So cute haha. Vendors, dog costume contests, probably dog adoptions. It's all set up by our local animal shelter.

We had a Halloween party past Friday in my class that I teach and I dressed up as Red Riding Hood!
Today we will just be ready with some candy if we get any Trick or Treaters around here....

That's hysterical! I saw a dog parade in New Orleans before the pandemic and the name of the parade was Barkus. Many people brought their dogs in costume. Such a fun parade!

Hubby and I dressed up in dusters and our Steampunk hats. He wore his "infinity gauntlet" from the Marvel movies, and called himself a Time Traveler. The kids LOVED his costume. We sat out on our porch, played Halloween music, and enjoyed seeing all of the local kids. We estimated that we gave out candy to around 350 trick-or-treaters. Some years we have more, so we always buy enough candy to feed an army. But with Halloween being cold and on a school night, we had a smaller group.

Here's how we dressed up to hand out candy:
