"Falling" Photos

So... I took my boys to Cabrillo National Monument yesterday which has an area of tidal pools. I was being SUPER careful because the rocks were very slippery and I didn't want to fall. I did SO well...until we were rushing to leave because the tide was coming in - and I slipped! Straight down into the water...with my iphone in my back pocket! I handed my phone to one boy quickly and he dried it and turned it off (it's sitting in rice right now & hopefully will make a full recovery). I'm fine - a small scrape, bruise and just aches. And, yes, I'm laughing because it was SO funny!

I have always told my kids (and various kids who have gone on trips with us), that if they fall the first thing I would do is take pictures...then I would help them up! Of course, if they were really hurt I would help first, but you know what I mean. hehe I think my boys were in shock when I fell (although, given my clumsiness, it shouldn't have been a shock!), so they didn't take any photos! Drat...would have made a great LO! I guess it will be one with a lot of journaling :)

This is one of many falls that I wish I had photos of... Have you ever had an experience like this? Did you get photos?

Oh my - your story made me laugh!!

I can't think of any falling photos off-hand. However, when was tubing (being pulled by a boat in the water), they hit some big waves while turning. I flew off the tube, and skidded across the water on my back (losing my bikini bottoms in the process). They got the entire thing on video! It was so funny (no one saw me bottom-less - thankfully), and I love that we have video of it. I looked like a turtle stuck on her back! ;) By the way - I never did water sports in a bikini after that! ;)

OMGoodness, Colleen, that is so funny! I seriously laughed out loud! What a great memory!

Both of your stories made me laugh!!! Tammy I can totally relate...I would be the first to snap pictures and then make sure they were ok...LOL!!!

I don't have any photos but one of my favorite stories is...Me, my sister, and Mom were at an international festival and we were all walking along chatting and having a great time until I asked my Mom a question and realized she wasn't with us...turned around and she had slipped on a piece of baklava and was in practically a split on the floor about 20 feet behind us. Our first reaction was full-out laughter!!! Some poor man went to go help her up and probably thought she had the worst daughters ever! By then my Mom was laughing so hard we were all crying. Even though this was probably 20+ years ago I remember it vividly. I soooooo wish I had photos of it!

Ohhhhh Tammy!!! Oh NO on your phone and I pray the rice works. DH walked into the gulf of Mexico last summer................................................................................. :(

I've never seen a tide pool in real life, only pictures, so I don't get the tide coming in part.

IF fresh water...you have a chance if salt.................................................
hugs

Tammy - I hope your phone is ok! I am always afraid of falling because I often do... but since I am always the one taking pics, there is no evidence of any of it LOL!

Once when I was rollerskating as a kid with my girl scout troop, I fell and split my pants... I'm sure that gave many people some laughs, but I wasn't one of them! ;)

No photos that I can think of with folks falling but did get a photo of a falling dresser that my kid pulled over. Once I calmed down and made sure he was okay...**Note it is now bolted to the wall**

Update...my phone is ALIVE! Yay! I'm so glad it's working!

I'm so loving your stories! It's nice to know I'm not alone :)

Kimberly, that is so scary! My son's dresser almost did that once. I'm glad your little guy is okay!

LOL LOL LOL LOL! these are all cracking me up - I've fallen more times than I'd like to admit - but again - I'm usually the one with the camera so not much proof ;)

Colleen I think I need to see that video ;)

Yes, I think I need to find it! When I find it, I'll add it to youtube and share the link here! ;)

I come from a long line of klutzy people! It is genetic. Lol
My sons first full sentence was ... "I'm ok".
Hahaha :)
My mom has fallen more times then I can even count! Some funny, some resulting in pretty major injuries.
She is also a craft nut and she is constantly on ladders hanging something (curtains, a wall quilt, putting up shelves etc). It makes for a bad combo!
A few years back we we all working on remodeling her master bathroom, she fell off a little step stool and hit her head/eye on the toilet. It broke her glasses and embedded the glasses screws into her brow bone! She had to go to the ER to have the screws removed and stitches.
She has broken bones, gotten many cuts and bruises, and trips to the ER... all in the name of home decor. Lol

I could probably fill a whole scrapbook with "I'm ok" photos. Lol

Wow, Ginger! My mom was like that, too, but now has osteoporosis so even mild falls are dangerous. Thankfully, she realizes that and is much more careful now. She fell several weeks back - just a tumble - thankfully landed on the grass, but it's taken weeks for her to start feeling better.
