It has been a busy few months, that's for sure. I can't even begin to list everything. Today I thought I would take a day off and relax. Of course, I have been on my computer doing odds and ends, but I have been relaxing more than usual.

I described my Christmas earlier, it was wonderful and I am still riding on the happiness high!

The day after Christmas, I worked on clearing everything up. We reuse ribbon, tags and boxes, so they all have to be sorted, stacked and put away. Ribbon has to be wrapped. On top of that, with the rains, some things in the craft room got wet from a leak, so I had to sort that out. It took me all day to sort things out and I still have work to go. We also had a party to go to yesterday and I had gifts to make for it, so it has been busy. The party was lovely. It was daughter Karen's new father-in-law's 70th birthday party. We had a wonderful time.

Here is us with the shirts I made. The theme was tie-dye, but Rick (back left) is a huge minions fan. Back row is Rick, Jon and Kim. Rick is Jon's step dad and Kim is his mother. Jon is Karen's new husband. Bottom row is me, husband Rand and daughter Karen.

We had a lovely Christmas weekend. Randy and I enjoyed two quiet days at home. I worked on our Disney album, and we decorated a pre-baked sugar cookie castle. It was hilarious (the snowmen looked rough!). After a day on display, Randy snacked on it, then surprised me with another kit... a Barbie-themed mid-century modern house. We’ll try that on New Year’s Day.

Saturday was gorgeous, so we spent it at my younger brother’s with the whole crew, plus Dad and my daughter. Three littles under 4 made it lively! We grilled, ate on the patio, and visited. I’ve stopped buying individual gifts for the tribe. Instead, I bring games—like the saran wrap ball of gifts or red solo cups filled with mystery prizes. This year, I brought “Left, Right, Center” and enough dollar bills for a few rounds. It was a blast! Even though not everyone won a prize, they all had fun playing, so I’d call that a success.

Sunday, winter roared back with freezing temps and icy roads. We drove to Randy’s family gathering; only half made it due to weather or illness, but his sister hosted a beautiful dinner and a white elephant exchange.

So another year is in the books. I now need to find motivation to get a lot of work done at my office today as we will have another short week. Randy is planning a birthday trip for me in January and an anniversary trip in February. However, it looks as though I may have to have my gall bladder out, so we'll see how all that pans out. Hope everyone has a happy and safe week!

Hey everyone, and Happy (almost) New Year! I am recovering from a period double whammy of severe cramps and migraine. Someone tell me it gets better after menopause! I have this week off from school and I'm taking it slow and relaxed.

Does anyone have any great NYE plans? Hubby and I are going to a college bball game then going to bed at our usual time, lol! We don't even have any bubbly cider or grape juice to celebrate. That's how low key we've become!

Ane, hope you get to feeling better! We are planning to stay at home. Last year, we made ourselves a cheese board for New Years Eve. I contributed a sharp cheddar, a brie, and a muenster cheese. Randy contributed a can of Cheeze Whiz! LOL! We will see if he wants to make that a tradition or if that was a one-and-done. LOL!

@breoni Gallbladder surgery has come a long way since I had it done with the 6-inch scar. Now they do laser!

Our New Years will be low key as well. My daughter and her boyfriend are coming over around ten. We'll be playing games to try to stay awake until the ball drops. Then shortly after that they go home and we go to bed. Unfortunately, my husband has to work at midnight. He doesn't get holidays off but gets time and a half pay.

We stay up until Midnight New Year's Eve. My husband takes the old year out just before midnight and runs around the building and brings the New Year in through the door at the last stroke of 12. He brings in Silver so we will never be poor, bread so we will never be hungry and coal so we will never be cold.

We drink a toast, eat some mince pies, and eventually go to bed!

@VariaMoon How are you holding up? I have been thinking of you over the holidays.
Hey, thanks! hanging in there. back and forth between vital statistics, life insurance, funeral home (shes being held at a low <sarcasm> fee of 50.00 a day), till I get the LI and am able to cremate her....

I just made it with elc, phone, and dog food and some meds. I'm on less and less meds every few days I have to lower something, so physically not doing well, I've dropped a ton of weight already, my crohns shakes are the only way I gain weight no matter what i eat, and they have been gone since mid nov. They work but are $$ cause its predigested so that i can absorb it.

So fine, hanging in there, blessed to still have roof..... all of the above. IDK numb mostly. thank you for asking!!!! 🫂 <3

Two of my dear friends are ACTUALLY OUT there will be attending the ROSE BOWL PARADE this year!!! They took a tour from MN and are attending several pre-events. It was on Mary's bucket list and Jill just wanted to go so she's Mary's traveling companion. They're having a BLAST! They saw the float completion yesterday and took a tour the day before. They went to some huge garden/arboretum. Mary is posting all sorts of pictures. I'm so excited for her.
We're doing appetizers tonight, watching the ball drop an hour ahead of us, watching movies and waiting for fireworks at the local ski slope which we can see from our windows, drinking champagne and heading to bed. Tomorrow Freddy is roasting a prime rib for dinner... Yummy! I will be watching the parade to see if I can "see" Mary and Jill in the grandstands. They're supposed to have preferred seating. LOL!

Hubby has acquired some bubbly grape juice, so it looks like we'll have that after all, lol. But we're still going to bed at the usual hour. ;) Tomorrow we have chocolate chip pancakes with ice cream for breakfast. We may or may not have Eren over for that, as they are partying late tonight.

We celebrated in California and waited up until California Midnight - we celebrated the New Year in all Time Zones, though :) I made mince pies after I got home from babysitting and finally found a recipe I like for the pastry. We had a lovely evening, just hubby and I. I made blueberry waffles for breakfast and another batch of mince pies. I made salmon for dinner. I am ready for a nap now!
