Sherri - Mexican Train is a dominos game. We usually play with 4-6 players, either with a set that goes up to the number 12 or for 6 players, we use a 15 numbered set. There are a few variations (chicken foot is also a dominoes based game that some here play). Here are some basic rules. We play a few variations that make it even more fun. So far everyone is really enjoying it.

We got a different probiotic for Remi from the vet so for the wkend she is taking two different ones and fingers are crossed that today things settle down in her GI tract. Last night was the first night since the knee injury that she let me sleep thru the night (6 hrs). It sure was needed :)

No big plans for the wkend aside from groceries and laundry, will make a pot of chili for the next few days and will work on crate games for Remi to keep her busy. Poor girl, I know she is missing her hikes and ball playing time but she is being very good about it.

I'm looking forward to a bit of scrapping over the wkend.

OK - crop events! One of the best things about my last Digi home (that closed) was the laptop crops! We would all get together and crop on our laptops. We would often connect with other people at other locations using Skype. Now we could Zoom! I have been to Digi Crops in England, New Zealand, Canada, Northern California, Southern California, and Las Vegas. We had them all over the US, but I didn't attend all of those. Jill attended one in Australia, I think. Even though the site closed, we have had one or two crops since! It usually lasted several days and the designers gave prizes, we had a photo walk and all kinds of stuff.

How many people would come if we held one in California? I could host it.

Those were the days. I only went to NZ crops but I did get to meet Lynnie when she came. :) So much fun. I used to like the weekend events and 24hr chats we had online too. We used to have a lot of fun games in the chat rooms - Bingo was hysterical. LOL. California is out of my reach.

I think the best thing about digi scrapping is the ease of storing, organizing, and finding supplies; never "running out" of something; and not having to pick up all the backings of the tab adhesives. LOL!

Organising and finding is something I'm having serious issues with at the moment. I've always relied on folder organisation and folder previews to find things. After an upgrade to the storage system where the bulk of my supplies are stored I can no longer see folder previews. I use a Mac and I can't fit all my supplies on the machine. I've vaguely looked at the idea of creating a separate Apple Photos library just for scrapping supplies? I believe it can be done but haven't checked if there are any traps/technical issues with more than one library

How do you organise and find your supplies?

How do you organise and find your supplies?

Hi Julia, for me, I've got to know what I have so I can use it. I know what I have, in general, in my Gingerscraps folder, for example. I have folders for every store I frequent. Some of the designers overlap, so in that case I put in a "dummy" folder with a kit preview and designername_kitname on the folder, then the abbreviation of the store I bought it in so I can find it.

As far as organizing within store folders, I use the same designername_kitname there, so all of a designer's stuff is listed together. I need to make a spreadsheet which will list the designers, kit names, and store where I bought it/where the designer sells so I can better tell what I have where. My stash is getting huge, so this will be a massive project, lol!

I'm happy to answer any questions you have about my method of organizing. Just let me know. :)

Thanks Ane. Sounds quite similar to what I do. I organise by store, by designer, by kit name. Which has always worked until the folder previews stopped showing up. I have been digi-scrapping for 19 years now - my collection is quite large!

I got my hair cut today as did Alexis. Her Dad then drove her to a few new geocaches, I stayed home as I was exhausted just from the hair cut. My irons been low, been trying different things to get it up, but not having much luck. It makes physiotherapy hard to do. I get so tired, and pain in my legs that keeps me up at night.

i did a deep clean on the bunny area yesterday, both kids helped or should I say young adults, hell they’ll always be my kids.

‘’the kids dad got a flat today, the spare which is up under the bottom of the van, he couldn’t get off. Had to have van towed to tire shop and they needed to grind the holder off the spare tire holder and replace. The tire looked like a awl had punctured the tire, he had only been at the mall a short period of time.
we were very “happy” it happened in the city and not out in the country while geocaching later in day.

Sherri - it might have been tiring but I bet it felt good to get your hair cut. I missed my appt this week (too tired and too much going on with Remi's injury) so now have to wait til later in Sept as my stylist will be away on vacation. It drives me crazy when it starts to grow in.

The probiotics are finally helping Remi. Yay. We are settling into the recovery routine nicely and I've been able to keep her entertained with crate and mind games. We have slept better for the last few nights.

FYI - for kit previews, you can use the free edition of ACDSEE which gives you small previews of the kits.

For my digi stash, this is what I do:
organize by store - subfolder for each designer - subfolders inside that of kit name

Inside each designer folder are subfolders with their kit names.
Inside each kit folder I save the zip file, then unzip it in there.
Then I copy/paste the preview into the folder alongside the zipped and unzipped files. This will then show the kit preview when you open a designer's folder and see all the kits.

I have been buying ACDSEE to organize my digi products for years but my old computer can't handle the newer software now but I'll be buying a new computer next year so can use my paid software at that point but for now, the free one they offer seems to be working just fine for me.

Another tip that I use for keeping my kits organized... is I actually archive the older kits onto a separate EHD. I have another EHD with all of my current / favorite kits and plenty of room to add more. For me, less is more when it comes to finding things. And I know I can always access the others as needed.

Well, our shed is complete, but we did not move a SINGLE THING into it this weekend. Mainly because it was so incredibly hot outside that we just chose to stay home. In fact, I didn't even leave the house yesterday. Ha. It was great. Randy and I went through our check list of what we still needed to arrange / do before our trip next week. And we got a lot of things checked off. I'm wondering if there is a way we can start adjusting our bed time / wake up time now so that the time difference doesn't hit us so hard when we land.

We are also going into "bubble" mode. Our daughter's boyfriend and my sister in law are both down with Covid right now. So we are going to do our best to avoid being around people before we leave. I had not planned on taking any masks with me on the airplane, but now I'm rethinking that.

I organize my kits on an EHD by Store, Designer, Kit...I do have 2 EHD's with older kits and another with archived photos. I put all parts of the kit together but have to open the folder to see it's contents but it works for me. I can also search for a particular kit to find options.

Julia, I loved the NZ crop - it was one of my favourites :) I have previews on my laptop. They took them away, but you can get a half folder preview now. I think you have to do something, but I don't remember what.

I love laptop crops, but I do still paperscrap also. I enjoy the tactile potion of that. I can't count how many times I have "pinched" a phone to make it smaller though :)

I organize my store by Store, Designer, Kit. If a designer is over multiple stores, I store it in GS and add the originating store to the kit name.

If I have an abundance of kits by a designer and they have mulple product types, I often create a subfolder for templates, one for overlays and one for CU products. - oh, and styles.

I was going to answer everything, but I had my eyes dilated today and I have a ferocious headache. I think I am going to get an early night and turn off the light.

Lynnie, I see that we have similar organization for our kits. I hope you're feeling better today!

I had my sleep study last night. I slept over 6 hours, which was great, but I had long periods where I felt like I was awake. The sleep technician told me they got good data, so I should hopefully hear about the next steps this week. I had a nice, long nap after I got home and ate breakfast, so I'm feeling pretty good for now.

School starts next Monday, woo hoo! I insisted hubby get first day pics for me, lol, so I'll scrap those for sure. :) Though why they're starting on Labor Day is beyond me.

Lynnie, hope you are felling better today.

Ane, An exciting new chapter in your life! I am sure you don't any luck but I wish you much luck and happiness in your new endeavors.

It is getting cooler here and I can't believe how fast summer is going. Hubby and I went to his family's reunion and there were so many people I have never met. I took a photo with many in them and counted 65 people. This didn't include any of the smaller children which I think there must have been a few dozen. He has such a large family and that is only on his father's side. We had a good time visiting!

I went on a long ride this morning with my cycle group, just a few more weeks and we are having our windup lunch. There are prize draws which we purchased tickets for that will help the club pay for administration fees. The prizes are all donated by local companies that are sponsoring us. We have draws once a month during the season and I won the first one, a very large Mandalay plant. It is its glory right now.

I am on to a new scrapbook, my Oregon trip. This one is a small one so hopefully it goes fast.

How is everyone fairing on the challenges this month? I have done my 20 that I set a goal for so probably will not do any more as they don't fit in with what I am working on right now. I have done a ton of commenting too, so many beautiful layouts!! Love seeing so many flood the gallery!

Thank you, Karen. I actually could use the luck, I am so nervous! :)

I finished my 20 layouts (I'm not going for 31) last week and my commenting a few days ago. I think I'm going to start commenting in the gallery more, in general. I used to make a comment or two every time I posted a layout. I think I'll go back to that. :)

Congrats, Ane, for completing so many challenges. With my work load and planning details for our upcoming trip, I didn't have much time to scrap at all this month. But I'm so grateful that Gingerscraps offers such a stress-free challenge in August. I hope that it will be back next year, too. :)

We had some bad news in our industry. One of my dear friends who works for our national office was let go. I'm just sick about it. They have a new manager in their department who is systematically cleaning house. And the way it's being done is so slimey... they make the work environment super toxic. If that doesn't drive people out, they start falsely accusing them of horrible things (like stealing). And when that doesn't work, they "restructure" and "eliminate the position." We have lost so much high-quality, dedicated, and talented staff. But yet it's allowed to continue. And yesterday's "restructuring" will have a direct impact on one of my main programs. So yeah...there's that.

I'm glad we have an extended vacation starting soon. I'm planning to delete my work apps off my phone during the trip so I'm not tempted to check emails, etc. I'm looking forward to unplugging and recentering. Is that a word? Ha.

Thanks, Karen. I appreciate that. I'm sure everything will turn out just fine, but it's sad when you finally "find your people" and then someone else breaks up the band. Oh my. I've already had a couple of conversations with the new VP who will be in charge of the program once it's moved over to her department, and she's asked me to be a resource for her. So I'm happy I can be a part of protecting the integrity of the program.

Today is my last day in the office until Sept. 23! whoot whoot. But I have sooo much to do before I can leave. I'd better hop off here and get to work. Have a great Friday, everyone! :)

I'm so very sorry Shana. That's seriously the kind of year I had last year. I'm SO thrilled that those two people (who made my life... and the lives of a whole BUNCHA people around me miserable) are gone now. Unfortunately, they forced a whole lot of really wonderful teachers and staff to leave before they did and now we're extremely understaffed for the start of the school year AND we have a brand, new building and the powers that be decided to move the DCD (physically handicapped) programs from center-based to home-school-based, so there are now DCD programs in every, single one of the buildings. Yes, that's probably a good thing, however, that means huge staff changes for me and all new time studies (including training) for my staff this September. OYE VAY!
School starts for students on Tuesday! Wish me luck!

Happy LONG weekend!
Love and Blessings.
Carla

I survived most of the weekend! :) We did our shopping a little later in the day than normal. After we chilled a bit, we went to an alumni event for our university to watch our football team. "We" did great! Today was church and 2 choir practices.

Tomorrow is my first day of school, yeehaw! I'm excited and nervous. It's a bunch of reading and a bunch of writing. I have to produce a publishable paper by the end of 8 weeks- yikes!

I hope everyone has a great week! :)

I'm jumping to here. AS... so much has happened over the ...well since return from July vacation on the Great Lakes...which was wonderful.
both hubby and I some medical. Mine.... mostly dental. However it now seems sinus is involved. Hubby - quit his cardiovascular rehab after heart surgery.... but [on a good note] he IS at the Y and DOES have a personal trainer - and that is good. Actually very good. So things are progressing there slowly, but there is positive progress.

We got one of those made for hurricane impact doors that cost a lot more than planned. Now we need different blinds to cover for privacy in the master bedroom also costly. Stuff needs to be done on the house. Been here 41 years...

G'kiddo's back in school; baseball; and dance... so busy there.

Other than that , holding my head above water the best I can.

Back later.

I think that's what all of us do, Michi, is keep our heads above water. :)

How have everyone's weekends gone? My yesterday was a little crazy, shopping and helping with a deep clean of our church building. We were supposed to make applesauce yesterday with apples we picked yesterday, but ended up just relaxing instead. Today was a little easier; we just had church and we're definitely going to make applesauce. :)

School is going pretty well; the discussions are done on a forum on the school's website, and I got nice feedback from the professor on mine (I just have 1 class). The readings are interesting and I only have 1 classmate.

I didn't do this, unfortunately. I have had such a crazy schedule. Will you all please give Ginger Feedback if you did the Scrapathon.

I have read all the posts to date. I have been so busy and it will continue to be this crazy through September and October. I am not going to take on so much stuff ever again (I say once more!)

Hi y'all! What have you got going for the weekend? I've got the usual shopping, probably followed by making applesauce and desserts for a church meeting. Maybe I'll get some reading done also, and homework.

Lynnie, if you ever stopped taking on stuff, I'd be shocked. You're not the type to use your retirement to sit in your rocker and think about years gone by by. If you ever completely stopped, you wouldn't last long, I'm sure. :)

I am babysitting Saturday and catching up on stuff on Sunday...What stuff you ask?

I have a wedding on October 4[SUP]th[/SUP] and I have created a ‘growing up’ video slideshow that is being shown at the reception. I am doing all the signage, name cards, table numbers, etc. I have created custom ‘Ring Security” shirts. I have also supplied tablecloths, chargers, plates, cutlery, napkins, etc. Not to mention the backdrops. In addition, I am doing all the photography on the day I took the bride's mother to the flower district in LA to get wholesale artificial flowers, and did the ‘yes to the dress’ event. Oh - and the wedding invitation, reply card, and envelopes.

On the 5th of October is a 50-year high school reunion for my brother’s class. I am scanning high school pictures and creating custom laminated name tags for almost 100 people. On that day, I will do all the photography, following which, I will create a memory book. It is the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] year in a row I am doing a 50-year reunion! We have all remained pretty close since high school and it is wonderful seeing people who are flying in for these events.

HOWEVER, prior to the reunion on October 5th, I have a State Board meeting for the Daughters of the British Empire, over 1 1/2 hours away from the reunion. So there is that!!

On 15th October, I am having cataract surgery. They bumped it up because my vision was deteriorating rapidly. The difficult part is not being on the computer for some time after. You can usually get on a computer within 48 hours, but they are saying I should not for 7-10 days. I am having a second surgery on November 5[SUP]th[/SUP].

November 1, 2, 3, there is a Western District meeting for the Daughters of the British Empire and I am involved in that. I am giving a presentation on Social Media and am helping organize it.

In between all the major events, I have a ton of minor events and tasks, such as creating flyers and posters for the Camera Club, a local foundation. I also create all the social media posts for the Daughters of the British Empire at the local and state level.

Plus I am home-schooling!

Speaking of Social Media - if anyone is on Facebook - can you do me a HUGE favour and go on my Daughters of the British Empire pages and like a few of the posts to boost it up in the rankings. If you don't feel like it, that is fine :) I won't be keeping track of my friends that do and don't, but anything I can do to boost the pages is helpful. Besides, you get to see my little posts.

Thanks a heap!

Happy Saturday everyone. It's been a busy week here. We are working on getting some much needed "things" upgraded in the house. The time and organizing of who is coming when can be taxing along with medical appointments, gym workouts and picking up the princess from school.
We will be heading off to baseball later this morning for afternoon games. I sure hope the boys play well so tomorrow is not an early start.

Good luck with your surgery Lynnie! Sorry that it HAD to be moved up, but glad you're getting it done.

These last two weeks have been crazy with school starting. Always are and will be the entire month of September. Finally got the staff roster thing worked out for this year (and hopefully for the future) so I can know where everyone is and will be around the district. I need to keep track so I know where to send logs for tracking billing. Our new sped director is a dream. She's been in the district for 10 years as a coordinator, so she knows my job and is very helpful and sort of lets me do my thing. We just have to get some details worked out that are a little sticky this year, but that will come. I'm not worried.

Today is a card-making day for me. All day. Class at 930, upline meeting from 10-11 and then an event class for a couple hours after that. Full day!

Take care!
Love and Blessings
Carla

Lynnie- I was thrilled with my cataract surgery. They never said anything about staying off the computer for 7-10 days to me.
